I'm coming from a "never had a phone" and 18 years old already position and am looking for a basic - and by that i mean a phone that calls (but not nessecarily has a camera/internet/coffe maker) - phone.

It has to be cheap, basic and durable. Speakerphone wouldnt hurt either. I'm open to any and all suggestions. Ideas? i hear nokia is durable so i have posted here but if you want to suggest otherwise..

Im currently looking at the 1110i/1110 (which is better?) the 1600 the 2600 or the 6101. Opinions?

Thanks

The 1600 looks like a sure bet. IDK, I don't have any experience from those phones that you listed. But it looks as though the bar phones are good choices. If you're looking for a workhorse, the 3220 and the 6220 never failed me when I had them.

Sir i would need to know if you are interested in a contract or non-contract phone...we carry a large variety from the do everything to the simplest of devices (free)

Non contract and i'll be open - im in australia and will be buying here so i am only really looking for advice. I have now changed my price range a touch and narrowed it down to the 6101, the 3120 and the 6030.

Pros cons and everything inbetween welcome.

Thanks for the replies so far.

i've only had experience with the 6030 but it was a great phone. great reception, stayed alive through the abuse and did its job well. i dont think u can go wrong with it.

Does the 6030 have speakerphone/handsfree? the nokia australia site says not but another couple of sites said it did.

Thanks everyone for their replies - in the end i went ahead with a motorola l6.

@Celhutcom: I was all set and about to buy the 6101 before i read up in reviews in amazon and other places about it being very fragile. I require something durable and i dicided it probably would not hold up.

Thanks nonetheless.

I have a Nokia 3210 as my "backed up" phone, amazing quality (have had it for 3 years, never broke) great speed (since it doesn't have any extra software like the fancier ones) best of all, amazing battery life (has gone 3 days without charge)

I personally like the Nokia 6233 for 2 reasons :

1. The phone software is stable

2. It comes with a free application called wireless presenter (downloadable from Nokia website)

The wireless presenter helps me a lot when doing presentation wirelessly.

3120 series, the cheapest available now :) which i owned for 4 years
