Best bang for the buck for shocks and brakes for a Honda Civic Eg Coupe?

I was wondering what the best bang for the buck would be for getting performance shocks and brakes for a Honda Civic Eg Coupe would be. I plan on getting the handling of the vehicle out of the way and then I can begin on the engine performance options.This is going to be my first build and I want to make it right. Im also not sure as to whether i should go with the B16A or a B18C engine swap. Any suggestions would help me out
