Best Band With Crap Musicians

Krist wasnt clumsy, just simple.

Kurt was the only really sloppy musician in the band (and that was usualy only when he did a solo or a more complex guitar part) after Chad left, Dave and Krist played very simple, not impressive but certainly not sloppy in my opinion, they were a good rhtyhm section, they held the song together when Cobain went out of controll, it was a brillant contrast between discipline and controll and pure noise and mayhem, its one of the primary reasons i f*cking love Nirvana.

Well, Paul Cook is actualy not bad, people call him a sh*tty drummer a lot, but thats just because they are in a band pretty much everybody (that i know) hates, but Steve Jones has said that he basicly ripped off Johnny Thunder's guitar playing style, and Thunders himself is known as one of the most technicaly limited (but still kickass) players of all time...And everybody knows Sid couldnt play a half decent line if his life depended on it, which is why he didnt even play on Never Mind The Bollocks, and live they would use overdubs, and all he would do is mimic on the instrument, basicly he made no real instrumental contribution to the band whatsoever, he was more a less a stand in model, he had the punk image, and punks everywhere identified with him, he was part of what made the band famous and marketable, so even if he REALLY wasnt involved with the making of the music, his departure is still one of the many things that led to the band breaking up, he still did get co-writing credit on the songs though, dont know how much he contributed if anything.

Either way, hes a top canidate for worst bass player of all time, Glen was better, hell Steve Jones was better.

Steve and Johnny were both WAY more involved in the songwriting, but neither are anywhere as popular or well known as Sid Vicious, because he has that iconic punk rock image, and that will probably never change.

Oh and he allegedly killed his girlfriend and ODed, that might also have something to do with it.

AC/DC ??????
Are you people insane???

The nature of their music is simple , it`s just 12 bar boogie.Just because they don`t have 15 minute wankathon guitar solos doesn`t mean they`re bad musicians.AC/DC are one of the tightest live banRAB i`ve ever heard.

And for the record I don`t mean not technically gifted musicians in this thread, I mean real sh*t ones.

Fear Of Music had some great basslines, as did Remain In Light (though Brian Eno played bass on that album too, so i dont know who did what) so i dont see how she could be that bad.

I will have to go with AC/DC...Though i dont consider them crap musicians by any means, they are just not very technicaly capable ones.

I've heard their entire catalogue (and a plenitude of unreleased material) many, many times. They were more experimental/psychedelic rock than anything in the early years. Having an influence on progressive banRAB doesn't make Floyd a progressive band themselves. Of course there were a few (moderately negligible, in my opinion) elements of prog in their music, but if I had to choose one subgenre to represent the Floyd, I'd choose experimental rock.

Mentioning Pink Floyd in a thread with "Crap Musicians" in the title is making me want to vomit. :)

Ahh, my bad for misunderstanding, i dont think non technical musicians are bad musicians, many of my favorite banRAB and musicians are simple and non technical, but im so used to hearing the definition of "crappy musicians" as being all non technical musicians from pretty much everybody on DDD and elsewhere, bad habit i picked up.

And you are right, AC/DC were not about technical wankery, and a lot of people hate them for it too, which is both sad and funny at the time time.

Back on topic, its difinetely The Sex Pistols.

I remeraber reading many years ago that Tina Weymouth was the girlfriend of someone in the band and they needed a bass player.......so they taught her how to play bass. I guess they didn't teach her very well...

In answer to the actual question of the thread, The Ramones was the first band to come to mind. Yes, I guess I'll have to tell 'em that I've got no cerebellum.

I suppose it once was. All the modern 'progressive rock' banRAB I've been hearing about are scantily experimental. They seem to be a little too preoccupied with instrumental wankery to even contemplate composing something innovational.
