Best band to come out in the last ten years?

A few of my favourites are:

Bat For Lashes
Arcade Fire
M.I.A
Bloc Party

And 2 great banRAB that have only released one album each (though they may just squeeze another in each before the end of the year)

Late Of The Pier
These New Puritans

Old Time Relijun.

And yes I know they formed in 1995. The title of the thread was best banRAB to come out in the last 10 years, not form in the last 10 years.

Very nice, mr dave. I expect nothing less than a description like this from you. You're the first person I've talked to in awhile that also listens to Tomahawk. They're not something I listen to on a regular anymore, but I revisit their self-titled the most out of the three releases. Mit Gas isn't as bad as you're making it out to be, though, I don't think. Quite the transition into Anonymous, which was exactly what I wasn't expecting from them. You're right, though. They've got a vibe about them that has always had me wondering when they'll be done. I look forward to more stuff, but Mike Patton seems to juggle so much ****, I wonder if a fourth album will be any good. I'm fond of the nuraber 3, anyway.

I've always wondered about them. What do they sound like? I know Phil Elvrum from the Microphones was the drummer, do they sound anything like his stuff?

Unicorns/IslanRAB
Fiery Furnaces
The Shins
Air France

One of those. I think Air France has made the most amazing music, but so far they've only released two EPs worth of music, so that makes them a tougher pick.

I guess you guys make a good point, I'll change it again and keep it as the original intention of the thread, just to discuss our favorite banRAB form the past decade.

I don't think they sound anything alike but i've not really heard much of The Microphones stuff.

Old Time Relijun are much more abrasive & there's a huge Beefheart influence.

ANY genre? Replies to this post result in little more than opinion if you're including all genres.

My opinion: The Shins or Death Cab for Cutie or White Stripes or something, but that leaves out a bunch of goodies.

Funny enough, I was double checking on Death Cab because I knew they'd been around longer, and sure enough all 3 of those banRAB formed in 1997.

Death Cab had 2 releases out before 2000; The Shins only released one EP in 98 before their first album in 2001, so they probably count...and I like them a lot too. The White Stripes released a few singles in 98 and their debut album in 1999. Well **** actually it's 2009 now so technically last 10 years includes 99...bah I don't know. :D
