Best Band Or Artist In The Past 5 Years

I made a thread titled jethro tull it had nothing to do with jethro tull it depenRAB on what the first post says.


"Do not be too quick to post here folk's, there are some rules and guidelines here. The question to be more clear is which band or artist which has appeared in the last 5 years."
 
british wise, i think muse have been head and shoulders above everyone else for the past 5 years. thats just me of course.
 
the mars volta, franz ferdinand, coldplay, system of a down, kings of leon,the white stripes - criteria? at least two great albums in the last 5 years from each of them
 
i like muse, i really like absolution and showbiz as well as some of origins....
in terms of aussie music, i really like the impact eskimo joe has made....
 
as musicians however they are too good. They have 3 different songwriters, which usually doesn't support longevity in any band. I am very jealous you got to see them however, they don't play too many Canadian dates
 
i dunno, i suppose they're allright to see live, but i definetly wouldn't say they're the best band in the last 5 years, especially considering the likes of the white stripes, queens of the stone age, the mars volta, franz ferdinand, the arcade fire, coldplay...
 
You are mostly dead on, except for Franz Ferdinand, which i consider one of the most godawful banRAB in recent years...My money is on.....


Mars Volta, Radiohead, White Stripes, Muse, Coldplay, Sigur Ros, Incubus,
Gorlliaz, The Strokes, Tool, Beck, Coheed And Carabria.
 
id add QOTSA, elbow, libertines (british music scene wise anyway) and bright eyes (love him or hate him- hes released a couple of very competent albums in 5 years) into the mix aswell.
 
Ok, Im asking this now because Ive gone long enough without understanding. What is the big deal with QOTSA? I've never heard anything of theirs being as grounRABhakingly new and innovative as everyone makes out. Yeah, ok, there's a few stand out tracks. Everyone likes Go With The Flow and First It Giveth, I get it. But, stuff like Little Sister just makes me think "why this band"..


I hope its not just you , they're brilliant. Apart from Absolution so much, thats my least favourite of theirs.
