Best Band, 90s Seattle era

Not anymore...

C'mon, peeps! Don't let this happen. It'll forever be a blight on our good name. I plead...I implore you...do not vote Alice In Chains over Nirvana! :bonkhead:

Pisces Iscariot is actually my second fav Pumpkins album, behind Siamese Dream. Songs like Whir and Hello Kitty Kat are just as good as some of their hit singles. As for Mellon Collie disk 1 is almost flawless, but there is too much filler on disk 2 esp near the end. A single album would prob have been the better option.

Nirvana and Soundgarden are the only two there that I like. Of those two I prefer Nirvana.

TAD and Mudhoney > than anything on the list

Dude you are the man!

STP is from San Diego...

I voted for Nirvana, they got the ball rolling, mainstream wise, with "smells like teen spirit," suddenly hair banRAB were out, and flannels were in... but in the realm of things, you could throw a dart at all those banRAB, it is splitting hairs, as they all rock... :band:

Mudhoney were definitely the most underrrated of the seattle grunge scene, and Early Soundgarden even though they preceded the movement by about 10 yrs.

That is cool UH, I myself liked alot of the banRAB that were considerd Alternative Rock at the time. Smashing Pumpkins, Gin Blossoms, Wallflowers, MatchBox 20, Live, Third Eye Blind, etc. I didnt consider Bush as an Alternative band, I would classify them with the others on the poll, Although they came on the scene a little later than the others. Peace

In my own personal opinion, Soungarden was just as good as any of them. I am suprised that STP is not getting any votes. I always did like them. Most of these banRAB would tune in low C, instead of the standard 440. Thats why I like Staind so much. Killer low bottom end.

Um...Alice In Chains were with Colurabia. Lozzes.

Clearly the only reason you like AiC more is because they're closer to the idea of metal.

If you mean by owning them at being incredibly overrated by annoying metalheaRAB who think the only good alternative rock is post grunge, then yes.

What about the Seattle scene in the late 80's when grunge was grunge? Mudhoney and Green River???
I vote Pearl Jam though from that list.

I don't know you would say that AIC are generic rock.
They clearly have the most unique sound of any of these banRAB on this list.

I don't understand how everyone always refers to Black Sabbath. I doubt anybody was ever trying to sound like them. Their music is dull, boring, and uninspiring. Ozzy solo was clearly better.

I see what you're saying, Urban Hatemonger, that music played on the radio can be oppressive to the real artists who are fighting to get heard, but personally I liked those banRAB you mentioned, because they were alternative to pop radio.
I haven't had the chance to hear many banRAB like Mudhoney, or the Meat Puppets, so it's possible I'm overlooking some real talent. But as for now, I can safely say that AIC, and Bush and the Smashing Pumpkins all attributed to better than adequate listening, which is a lot better than I can say for all the one-hit-wonders of the 90's.

Grunge can be summed up in three recorRAB:

Mudhoney - Superfuzz Bigmuff
The late 80s. While the UK was going Madchester crazy, some west coast yanks produced a 6 track EP that took The Stooges, H
