Ok, I have a Panasonic SC-BT300 HTiB that has 7.1 surround sound. Blu-ray movies sound and look great when played in the system, however my PS3 and HD tv box can only connect to it via optical, hence I can only get DD 5.1 at best even though the SC-BT300 supports DD 5.1, DTS, True HD, DTS pro or whatever. Unfortunately, panasonic chooses to not allow DTS decoding over toslink, and toslink doesn't have the bandwidth to carry better than DD 5.1 or DTS. So it kind of sucks that my PS3 can output 7.1 sound and I have a 7.1 surround sound system, but can't use better than 5.1. My question is, whats the best AV receiver that has a few HDMI in ports, so I could run the PS3 and HD set-top box to it via HDMI for the best sound formats and then run the video to my HD tv over HDMI? I would also like to know if it would and I would like to if I can, use the speakers from my SC-BT300 on the receiver so I wouldn't have to buy new speakers to, since the SC-BT300 can only accept optical in not hdmi. Here are the specs for the sc-bt300: http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Video/Blu-ray-Disc-Players/Technical-Specification/model.SC-BT300.T#ts .
I would also like to keep the price below $400 as well.
Thanks.
How would I go about using the speakers from the sc-bt300 in the receiver? They have those plastic connectors on the ends that are color coded to plug into the HTiB player/receiver
