just wacthed one night in mongkok.

tae gukgi or whatever the brotherhood of war is overrated. poorly shot war scenes aping private ryan, and ridiculous melodrama. it became comically cheesy.

old boy on the other hand was gold.
a moment to remember ...i thought it was better than the notebook that got all the love.
my sassy girl also good. the american remake was ...horrific.

I've learnt to ignore the melodrama in asian films, it seems to be excessive in a lot of their films over there compared to other countries.

I didn't have a problem with the way it was shot either, it was quite messy in parts during the war shots, but makes it seem, to me, like you are there in all the mess.

It's a great film, very entertaining and quite bonkers in parts. And another excellent performance from Kang-ho Song, my favourite Korean actor. ;)

Looking forward to seeing him in Chan-wook Park's next film Thirst (Bakjwi) when it comes out in October.

Agree with most of the films posted so far (esp Battle Royale) but surprised no mention of Akira or Fist of the North Star, two of the best manga anime to date.
