My favourite movie of all time is "Poltergeist"
The worst movie I have ever seen has to be the third entry in the series "Poltergeist III".
The Lowdown on the Movie: If anybody here even knows what makes a movie sequel work, "Poltergeist III" had nothing going for it except "Heather O' Rourke" (the young actress from the first two movies). "Poltergeist III" is pointless, "II" ended the story, bringing Kane back for "Poltergeist III" was a stupid, stupid idea anyway, his character in "III" is AWFUL, poorly written, poorly scripted and poorly executed like the rest of the movie, (his character was fantastic in "II"). "II" is a worthy good sequel, "III" is "TERRIBLE!". The remaining (virtually new) cast are unbearable, the so-called music score by "Joe Renzetti" is nothing more then a load of synthesized nonsense (no "Jerry GolRABmith" in sight this time). As for the effects, they are the kind of cheap, poor effects you find in a TV movie and getting back to the script, why didn't they just add the line "Carol Anne!" to Kane's pathetic, laughable dialogue in the script another 10,000 times or so, they seemed to think "118" already was "acceptable".
The Lowdown on the Music Score: MGM asked "Jerry GolRABmith" to leave the "Poltergeist III" production, if you are going to remove a legendary composer from scoring a movie you don't replace them with a rookie who A) had no intention of writing an orchestral based score (even though he was actually offered an orchestra he could have used along with his synthesizers) = he was selfish, lazy and careless B) had no intention of using the previous established musical themes from the first two movies = he didn't want "GolRABmith" to get any credit or loose any of his precious money due to it having to go to "Jerry" by default and C) thinks his ideas were actually good ones! = he was and "still is" in my opinion, a complete a**hole. (excuse my language). "Carol Anne's Theme" was as important to the "Poltergeist" story as say "Darth Vader's Theme" was to "The Empire Strikes Back". You don't just decide NOT to use it because your paycheque will be deducted otherwise. By "Joe" taking that theme away he had already removed a large section of the story's appeal and ruined it there and then.
The Lowdown on Heather O' Rourke: Heather's mother was informed during her filming "Poltergeist III" that she may have a bowel obstruction and need surgery to correct it, so Heather's mother Kathy asked MGM if she could remove Heather from filming so that she could take her to see the specialist and find out if this was really the case and get her the surgery but MGM said NO because they didn't want filming to be put on hold and loose money as a result by not having their main star so they talked her out of it and into thinking nothing of that nature was wrong with Heather. Five weeks went by, then filming had to be put on hold suddenly anyway because Gary Sherman (the director) had a personal engagement of his own and therefore couldn't show up to work. During this time Heather's mother did not try to contact the clinic specialist again because she was convinced Heather was OK (she was already on a very powerful drug "Cortisone" which is the reason why her face seemed fat during her appearance in the movie because of her gain in weight) and Heather was not one to complain about herself being in pain etc. During this period MGM informed everyone that they wanted a new ending for the movie shot as they did not like the one already filmed. Then it eventually came to that tragic morning when Heather passed out and was rushed to hospital, dying later that day (her intestines had burst). Gary Sherman informed MGM that due to Heather's death nobody was interested in doing the movie anymore but MGM basically said "if you don't come back and shoot it, we shall get someone to do it for you". The remaining cast returned to work, a body-double was used for Heather and Kipley Wentz wasn't even asked to return (he played Scott). There is also a large number of other factors that contributed to Heather's death but I shall not go into them here.
That's why "Poltergeist III" IS and FOREVER will be nothing more then a complete and utter "ABOMINATION".
