Best and Worst Film Ever

Donnie Darko is like a Twilight Zone episode stretched to feature length and no better for it! Like The Village, it's the film equivalent of having your pocket picked.

I've never been able to watch this movie, due to every version I've seen thus far has terrible sound.

I don't think I could comment on what the best film ever was. As for the worst, well again, couldn't say there are too many films that are just a waste of chemicals and light.

Also 2001 is a poor film. I get it, I understand it. And it's still poor.

I find it impossible to name a single favourite, so here are some I rate highly that bear repeated viewing:

Dr Strangelove (1960s anti war film) , Once Upon a Time in America, Goodfellas, Monty Python - Life of Brian, Unforgiven, Shawshank Redemption, Some like it Hot (1950s Marilyn Monroe), all three Indiana Jones, Tootsie, all LOTR, Alien and Aliens.

And here are some popular films that I did not enjoy. They are not the worst I have seen, but they are popular films I just did not enjoy.

The Matrix, Unbreakable, Fight Club. And I really do not get the Star Wars films, they are for kiRAB as far as I can see.

JJ :)

I agree with your point to a degree, but whats the point of a discusion forum if nobody argues.

So don't worry about someone having ago at your choice or what you say :D

But I do agree about 2001, total nonsense as far as I'm concerned however not the worse film ever.

That accolade goes too...... urm Dirty Dancing (and just to make it clear, that its not just my choice its the truth, so no point in arguing :p )

Best: There are quite a lot, but Spirited Away was excellent.
Worst: Lost in Translation. I want to physically vomit when that film is praised. It is the worst film ever to be projected in the history of cinema.

I've got no problem with people disputing opinions (as you say it's the whole point of a forum), I just think there's a slightly more intelligent and eloquent way of pointing it out than saying someone is 'talking bullcack'.

With regarRAB to the worst film ever bit, is it okay to include films that, having seen a trailer or just by the title you wouldn't go and see it.

As an example, when I heard about Garfield being made and having seen the trailer, I thought 'mmm this looks good' so why waste money to be proved right.

Therefore this is one the the worst film ever. :D

Not sure I can restrict myself to just one in each category!

Best: The Wizard of Oz/Gone With the Wind

Worst: Austin Powers 2 - the spy who shagged me (closely followed by the Fifth Element and Waterworld!!)

Best Film - Titanic (I don't care what anyone else thinks because I'm leaving here as soon as I've posted).

Worst Film - That film with the serial killer woman - I get bored thinking about it, or Dirty Dancing which is utter crap.

Best Film would be Shawshank and Star Wars (all of em) why, you may ask, well because its Star Wars and Dumb and Dumber :D oh and Month Python Holy Grail :D .

Worst film - the list would be way to long as so many are just depressingly bad, but just a few:

most remakes of 70's TV series
Blair Witch, Pearl harbour, anything with Julia Roberts

Good lord Dead Poets' Society, I was coming in here to say that is the worst film I've ever seen. Two hours of my young life wasted. And on what? Did anything actually happen in that godforsaken film? Did it actually go anywhere? Did we learn anything of importance? No I'm not bitter at all. Why do you ask? :D

Aha I disliked 2001 as well because of the freakin' ten minute light show near the end? WTH? I stayed up to watch it as well, and then I had to sit through ten minutes of that. Not to mention the film dragged. Apparently the director was on some sort of lsd's at the time, so I'm sure the light show looked fantastic to him. I like the second one though.
