Er, no. Us not liking these films makes these films bad ("bad" is a subjective opinion, yes?). While I'd happily defend Lost in Translation and Eternal Sunshine, 2001 is a pretentious mess that suffers from it's own sense of importance. A typical (and unoriginal) response to criticism of this type of film is that the viewer 'doesn't understand it'.
Credit me with some intelligence. I know what's going on in 2001, I just find it to be extremely dull. And btw, understanding a film contributes nothing to one's enjoyment. I was slightly baffled the first time I saw Donnie Darko at the cinema, but I also knew it was quite a brilliant little movie with fantastic characterisation, sharp dialogue and some tight direction (elements that are absent from 2001).
Here endeth the rant. I've hereby commited a sin known as 'defending one's opinions'; something that should never have to be attempted. Next time, just accept that we're not all alike, yeah?
A brilliant british film which holRAB up from start to finish, but didn't receive any plaudits as the actors etc weren't in the cliques connected to the film industries.
Incidently, asked my sister if she wanted a lend of it the other day and she asked if I had the first one
Worst: The full Monty
Load of bollox, hyped to high heaven and people actually bought it !
There are many worse films that 21 Grams, but I've managed to avoid seeing them all. 21 Grams is the worst film that I've seen that I was expecting to be good.
