Best 12 Inch Subs & Amp for under $600?

I own a 93 Ford Explorer and I have plenty of room in it so I was hoping to add a little something extra to the stock audio system. Sadly I don't have too much money to put into it but I want to at least add something to it. Any suggestions for what brand and model subs and amp I should look into? $600 is my absolute maximum price for both the amp and the subs. I was looking into 2 12 inch subs but if anyone thinks I can do better with 10's or 15's within the same price range (including the amp) feel free to share.
Oh and I forgot add, I keep hearing good things about hifonics amps. Can anyone reccomend a good hifonics model for my price range that will still allow me to get two subs? or can someone recommend a better brand for my price?
