Does anyone know when the new series will start?

I know they would have to rewrite new parts due to the death of Mel.

There was supposed to be a Christmas special followed by a new series in early 2011

Don't know, but I'm keen to see what happens next. It'll take some rewriting, after the end of the last series pointing to Mel and Madge being the stars of whatever happens next.

I read a couple of months ago that Roger Moore is going to be in it as Madge's new love interest...
I'm looking forward to the new series but I'm disappointed that some of the old characters are not going to be in it.

Do we know what characters will not be in the new series, obviously mel and i also believe the oracle (Johnny Vegas) will not be there?
