Are there benefits to having a larger sub enclosure than what is recommended on the specs? If a speaker calls for 2.0^3ft, would a 3.0^3ft possibly sound louder?
I'm looking to have more boom from my sub, and I would be willing to sacrifice pop. I guess you could say I want deeper bass, and would sacrifice the high tight hitting bass. Would a bigger box do this?

There's pros and cons on this. If you make a box too big, your sub could bottom out, play flat notes, sound like shit because there's too much air to push and not enough power.
It basically depends on your subs and what they're capable of. If you have strong subs with some good power being sent. It will sound some what louder, but you'll notice the difference in the notes. You said you'll be willing to sacrifice the highs tight hitting bass. Songs like Dj Unk - 2 Step, you won't even hear the high notes in that song. But in songs like White Girl and Hypnotize, you'll rattle everything around.
My box is bigger than recommended with a bigger port and I don't regret it.
