According to Variety, Owen Wilson has signed on the dotted line to join Ben Stiller in Starsky & Hutch, an action comedy greenlit by Warner Bros. for a February start. Todd Phillips, who wrote the last draft of the script with Scott Armstrong, will direct.
The film takes its inspiration from the ABC series with Paul Michael Glaser (Starsky) and David Soul (Hutch), which bowed in 1975. They played hip, streetwise cops with a well-drawn relationship often credited for the show's four-year run. The drama was squarely set in the '70s, but the feature will be updated and will focus on the formation of the duo's partnership, adRAB the trade.
