bellybutton ring taken out?

When i found out that i was pregnant i toke my belly button ring out which i loved.. and i wanted to know would i be able to put another barbell through it and just get it re opened, i also dont no if its opened or not still i am to afraid to try lol.. I tok it out the first month i was pregnant, and my son is now 7 months so its been over a year its been out..and if i went to a preofessional and it was closed.. would they have to make another hole or could they just pierce thro the old one...
