Except would you be willing to buy others a HD receive & TV, HD set still are up there (to get true HD feeling your lookingg at set at least min 32" to 35" in size anything under that isn't that "exciting")and not all people can afford them especially in today economical times

Yes I was and No you won't as you only get what you subscribed to prior to the new HD themes. For you Showcase & NGHD were on "Free Preview" as you did not subscribe to the associated sd themes required by your old $10 HD package.
You will lose TLCHD when Its the free preview is over because you don't subscribe to the new HD themes.

the only prerequisite for the new HD platform is that you need to have sports 1 in order to get the Sports HD theme packs.

all the rest of them are available no matter what packs you have.

you could have digital standard with 1 theme (sports 1), and still get all 5 hd packs with all channels.

so pretty much, what youres saying is... this package IS exactly what you want.

The free preview for Showcase HD and National Geographic HD is officially over and gone if you do not subscribe under the current packaging arrangement. We remain on the $10 HD package. However to get rid of the High Fidelity channels and get back the two other channels will screw it all up and cost an additional five dollars a month. The real catch will come when additional HD channels are added to the more variety theme. Also sort of cute on Bells programers part to have Rush in another theme.
It would be nice if Bell would consider its subscribers a little more.....what ever happened to the announcements by the new CEO that one of the most important issues was "customer service" He should be reminded that it means a little more than getting your service in 24 hours particularly for the hundreds of thousands of subscribers who have been paying their bills for many many years. Do not expect anything for free but a little more respect would be nice.

HD Themes are simple. There are specific channels that require their standard definition linkage - by contract from the broadcaster. All TV companies do this - not just bell. Rogers requires you to purchase Ultimate or Digital VIP ($64.97) prior to purchasing their extended HD pack - which is approx $15 including the Oasis package. The channels for Bell requiring linkage are TSN, RSN, and Raptors. Take Sports 1 and your conditions are covered. Pretty simple? Also the new HD channels - TLC, Showcase, and National Geo, HD are all inclusive to the new HD Themes. Showcase and National Geo were advised that they are in free preview. IF you want them, take the new theme. Why should TV companies continue to add channels that cost them money and put them in existing packages. They have already did this with tsn 2, HBO, etc. IF you want the 3 new HD channels, subscribe to the HD themes. There is no grandfather package for existing customers. This should clear up all the information. TSN HD and RSN HD are avail as $2.50 per channel but again - subscription to Sports 1 is required to ensure it meets the rights of the contract.....

Again, this is done with all TV companies, not only Bell. In addition other TV companies link A&E, Showcase, NAtional Geo, etc.... At least Bell only has it linked to a few channels.....

That's not true! Raptors from the new HD theme Sports require you to take SD Sports 2 theme or Raptors pick & pay.
There will be more to come.

One of the reasons for paying for both SD & HD channels is that most people have more than just HD receivers and would want to have those channels on their SD receivers as well. BUT you should be able to have one version without the other.

its all about reducing costs, im easy to please, i just came off of 6 years of dial up followed by 2 years of xplornetsucx.... if bells 7meg service is only half as good as rogers i would still be happy, , my fear is paying more then i need to by breaking up the bundle.

Bell, accirding to me, should put their underwear and force all the clients to switch to Genesis package instead of keeping so many different programming packages...

If that was the case things will be more simpler for the CSR, who would have an excellent knowledge of all the packages that are available, and who would be better able to assist you.

There is presently a too wide variety of packages that clients could have...some have pre-Legacy package, some have Legacy, most have Genesis.

Since the current package (unless they changed that since I left) is Genesis the training focuses more on the Genesis programming package.

Also, in the system, when a client has a Legacy package the system doesn't list the theme packs the clients suscribe to in some cases. It would just say for example ALL YOU CAN EAT: LOCALS + 7 THEMES. The agent therefore doesn't really know what channels you have, making it hard for him to switch your package to a Genesis package.

The channels comes from Rogers (Rogers Sportsnet) so yes, unfortunatly for them, if they request that all suscribers have digital service to get their channel BellTV has no choice but to obey. I'm susrprised that you didn't receive anything from Bell mentionning there would be such change. Usually when a channel is removed, or when there is service modification they put a notice on the bill or add a paper with the bill. Have you received anything like that? If you didn't, I would agree with you that it is poor buisness practice.

On the new package the system acces charge is only 3$ compared to the 5.99$ (if my memory's right) on Legacy. There is no charge for the additonnal receiver, so you will save the 4.99$ or 2.99$ (if you have the movies) you are curently paying for the additionnal receivers if you have more than one

The first few I look at that I don't sub to CNN 500 news 1 & FOXNC 507 news 2 are in red on the all channel guide but are not a pick and pay option. You have to sub to two themes to get these 2 news channels.

The Bell Digital Standard package does include HD channels for CTV, CBC, Global and the US Networks. Its $36 with time shifting and their Digital Service Fee.

Wow, that sounds like a pretty impressive deal. Let me know if you get it or not. Is this available to any new Bell customers?

RDS HD available as is SCORE HD, as is TMN HD, as is VRAK HD, as is all french HD themes.

Lets break it down to make it more simple:
3 Types of HD treatment:
Free HD (17 with subscription to digital basic) - $33
Free HD with associated SD: TMN, HBO, SCORE, RDS, VRAK, NHL CI HD, ..... etc. (I.e. buy the SD themes and get HD included in the price)
Premium HD: channels with high costs from the broadcasters / networks etc.

Sports 1 linkage gets you access to all 5 HD themes. The ONLY channel it does not provision is Raptors HD. IF you want it, you can subscribe to SD pick and pay for $2.50 or take SPorts 2. Many outside of Toronto dont care for Raptors, so big deal.

SIMPLY PUT: if you dont care about Raptors HD, you can theoretically have all premium HD with Sports 1 SD.

Why is it so complex.... I am lost. When the old $10 pack existed, you still needed Sports 1 and SPorts 2 for all premium HD as is today.

Rogers requires you to have the ULT or VIP pack - why may you ask? Because it covers off all of their HD linkage requirements - for them it is also Showcase and Nat Geo HD among others such as TSN HD, Raps HD, and RSN HD.... no other provider gives TSN HD or RSN HD or Raps HD with out linkage to their SD counterpart.......

I was wrong. It does say on their website that you can get TSNHD and Rogers SNHD for $2.50 each. You still need to subscribe to the digital sd Sports 1 theme. Sorry haystack I didn't see your post.

You don't need an HD tv to have an HD reciever. I'm still wondering why they're bothering to sell or rent SD recievers. They would save themselves a lot of time and effort down the road to just sell the HD recievers because you can still use it on an SD TV.

When i checked lastnight i still had TLC HD and i'm on the old $10 HD package.

Do not get too carried away, I am hearing of NEW programming guides with the new Bell Logo's and a new pricing structure, starting Dec 1st. Although Dec 1st could be when the Guides become available.

The number of Theme Packs are increasing by 1 for each tier I believe.

If I get hold of a Guide I will post a link.
