Bell TV Pricing, themes and programming package discussion

There is not now but there was 3 month before the new HD themes came out in April 08. Whether Bell likes it or not.

In conclusion... the guy at the Bell store told me a lie. His exact selling point to me was that if you subscribed to the SD channel you would get the equivilant HD channels as bell adds them to the lineup. I should not have to pay a lawyer to compare what the guy (not just any guy but a guy wearing a bell shirt in a bell store) said and what the contract says. It is completely appropriate for people to be frustrated when the product is not as described by the sales person.

I suggest anyone that had the old $10 HD package prior to April 08 and were getting Showcase HD and/or NGHD because they subscribed to the associated SD theme, lost them on Jan 30 09 and want them back call 1-866-317-3382. Ask to speak to someone representing the marketing dept of Bell TV.

Tell them your friend told you this

Be patient if they try to stall you. Ask to speak with the supervisor or have someone in marketing call you back. If that does not work I will give out the name of my contact.

Not so simple! To get those three HD channels you need to subscribe to SD sports pack 1 &2 and LE Monde EN Francais.

They came out 3 months before the "new HD themes" and should Qualify under the terms of the $10 HD pack.

DT1, from what CSRs are told by management, you used to require the associated Digital Channel to subscribe to RSN in HD. That meant you used to have a grandfathered version of Sports 1. Now that RSN is in New Sports 2 this does not seem to be the case.

Can I just alter my package online? I want to because I notice we are paying 105 or whatever for the highest package.

And they have a promo offer if you have another bell service (we have bell mobility) you get it for 90 dollars.

Am I eligible or is this only for new customers?

The problem is they charge me 105 but I lost mchd2, showcase and national geographic, i have all in standard def.

Im so confused with all this bell crap and there website never works properly.

Seems to me that Bell TV both "sucks and blows". I initially subscribed to the $10 HD pack only to have the rules change, or have they? Initially I was advised that if you subscribed to a SD channel the equivalent HD channel would be included in the $10 HD package if it was available, automatically. Then Bell changed the rules and devised the (5) $15 HD Theme Packs. They are on record as stating that just because you subscribe to the SD channel, you no longer are automatically going to get the HD equivalent (ie TLC, National Geographic, Show Case), unless you purchase the corresponding HD theme pack. Now the Bell TV web site states the following regarding "Free HD Channels; "Available with an HD receiver and subscription to packages containing the associated digital channel(s)."

It's apparent to me that some channels in HD are only available when you subscribe to the corresponding SD channnel and others don't fall into this criteria. Well Bell you do "suck and blow" and you should not be able to manipulate the rules to your financial benefit. I'll be calling Bell TV tomorrow to expect some sort of compensation.

The wife just called to tell me TLCHD is gone from our lineup as well. I am on the 10 granfathered pack as well. This is starting to make me quite mad.

From my recollection the most that the could have retroactive charge would be two years . Which needless to say would not be worth the pr to get it.

No I thought I was going to have to sub to the SD version as well.

Unfortunately you don't always get what you pay for.

That's one way. Another way is to produce evidence that their competition has a better offer, for the channels you want.

We ordered wgnhd n they didn`t activate it but we are still being charged for it . it is on channel 825.

I've been a $10 HD subscriber since it started. I get most of the HD channels, including most of the ones broken out into the new theme packages.

Does this mean if I change any programming I'm going to get messed up here? If I want to drop MC for instance, will it cost me more for HD?

Thanks!

I'm thinking of migrating to Bell from Shaw, but I'm not sure if it's worth it in this economic turmoil. Currently I'm paying about $40/month before tax with Shaw. I just recently got a HDTV and I want some HD channels. I might just stay with Shaw and buy a DVR from them. So what is the cheapest bundle that will give me most if not all of the HD channels from Bell?

No I think the thing to do now is to change to 5 HD themes and drop what SD themes you can. All new HD will now be free or in a HD theme. They will give you a discount of 40% a month for a year on your total subscription amount, if you complain about broken promises and the need to switch to the new HD themes to the Retention Dept.

This is true but the channels I was speaking about Showcase HD & NG HD Were Available before the new HD theme package April 08 and was told by this by the Executive Office "that they should be grandfathered". It does not apply to HD channels added after April 08.
