Bell TV: Price increase again?

I called today to cancel premium movie pckge. So 4$ increase is actually 15$ decrease...

BTW: got Blu-Ray player last week, so I won't have to wait and hope movies I want to see in HD appear on TMN HD. Probably will even out.

Don't think so . To buy a movie costs over $30 , and to rent over $6 at blockbusters. It will propably cost you few times more , all depends how many movies you buy or rent.

As a corporation they have no ability to properly communicate with their customers and do not treat them with any respect. Just take the money and then as a thank you raise the rates. The eternal optimist in me says the $4 increase is to cover the exchange program for those of us (stuck) with the 6100 and 9200 receivers. As others have said with the investment in equipment and programing and the hassle to change providers one can see why they treat subscribers in such a manner. As Charles Dickins once said......."more gruel please sir"

I have a $1 increase (I kid you not).

Digital Standard, Time Shifting and one theme no HD.

I'm calling in too, as I'm tired of price increases while others keep getting retention deals....
Who is picking up the slack for all of the retention discounts? I think the problem is people see their discounted/retention monthly bill, and then think that should be the price all the time. If you compare prices, you will see that they don't rip you off, that much, compared to your other options...

Just got my bill in the mail and found out my package is going up $2.00. I kept track of what I watched in sept and oct and I was able to delete my package down to 5 themes and west coast feed. I was able to get my fee down to $55.00 I don't have a HDTV or any movie packages. My theory is I watch 20% of the Channels 80% of the time. I remember back to 1970 when I first got cable it was called Videon then the fee was $4.95 a month we got 3 channels cbs, nbc, and pbs. There was actually more to watch then with 3 channels then there is now with all the channels we have now.

Back to the $2.00 increase just wondering what it is for am I paying for magazine which they got rid of or am I paying for the burning log channel 279 which was added for the Holidays.

I think Star choice usually states what the increased was for.

From Bell

Whats wrong with stating the price of apples!

Bell and Star Choice both have done increases of roughly $3 each year over the past several years. I believe the digital services fee is on top of other increases they have instituted. $15 seems high over 3 years, but probably isn't terribly far off.

Neither my ebill notification nor my One-bill itself (dated Nov 6) have any indication of a price increase.

I did however find it kind of silly that under the NHL Centre Ice solicitation that they had the line "Sign up before October 16 and save $20 off the regular season price" since the bill is dated Nov 6. Similarly there was advertising for a UFC event also taking place October 16. A 3 second review should have removed or updated these items.

I figure a couple a month 13-14$.

The rest on my PVR are shows I never have time to watch...

That explains it !! My $4.00 increase must be because they added the Firelog Channel on position 279... I keep forgetting about the high price of fuels now ;)

I think once the Teachers Pension peoples take full control, we can expect some price cuts...

For those that have forgotten.

Up until I believe late '04 or early '05 you got the Ultimate and Super combos.

The Ultimate 7 which was seven theme packs which included TMN.

$56.99
$2.99 extra receivers
$9.95 HDTV pack
$1.99 Discovery HD

= $71.92 + tax

Not too long after they raised the package rates by $3 and added $1.99 for SportsNet HD and TSN HD

= $78.90 + tax

Then came the Ultra Value Combo's which is now only 6 theme packs. They moved the US networks from the themes so it didn't make much difference.

$68 UVC
$10 HD

= $78 + tax which is when I made the switch to new programming

Then came the $5 increase to Digital Standard
Then the $3 Digital Fee

$73 UVC
$10 HD
$3 Digital Fee

= $86 + tax

In Jan. 09 + $5

$91 + tax which I am still on the old HDTV pack which saves me $5 because now they charge $15 for all HD packs making it a whopping

$96 + tax

So I was wrong they have increased the rates by almost $20 !!! in almost 4 years which I have left tax out which makes it even worse.

As per my bill with billing date November 6, 2008:

"Please note that as of January 2009, the monthly rate of your current Bell TV programming package will increase by $2. If you make any modifications to your programming package, the amount of the increase may change. For questions about your continuing service, please contact 1 888 759-3474."

I have Digital Standard, US time shifting, and 6 themes.

That is the most accurate statement I have read for a while.

If you are currently getting any kind of retention deal, stop whining.....Pay up or go elsewhere.

Still doesn't make a lot of sense unless you're on an older package i guess.

I have HD Extra package, 7 themes + TMN and $10 HD old package and only getting increased $2

So by the logic they're giving you in your increase is that HBO Canada sounds as tho it's now causing an increase. That would by my understanding because thats the only thing thats changed with TMN package, or they're droping the discount for TMN for having a certain number of Themes.

Videotron is my ISP and they never have raised their rates as fast and as high as Bell. They also give customers a discount of $10.00 per month for a 12 month commitment, which I deem to be reasonable. When I go back to them and add cable TV I will get another additional discount. When there is a rate increase at Videotron, they notify their customers in a separate mailing and fully explain the justification for the increase. Bell does not.

As far as Bell wasting money and paper sending me a notice, they are already doing this by sending me a useless magazine each month that I never wanted or requested in the first place. They also have no problem mailing me offers every few months to get me to 'bundle' all their services for some tiny discount.

Enough is enough with Bell TV customers getting screwed yet again by their totally unjustified increases.

I think it will backfire on them by raising the rates. I'm not willing to pay more than I am now. If the rate increases, my package will decrease, because I'll just drop stuff to offset it. What a totally stupid time to do this with the economy the way it is.
