Bell TV On Central Vancouver Island

Hi,

We're planning a move from Winnipeg to the Parksville area, on Vancouver Island.
Can anyone living in the area or comment on their satisfaction with Bell satellite TV?
I ask because of the look angle for their satellite at 82 degrees and because of possible outages from rain fade.

Thanks in advance for any insight you guys might have....

Works great in Victoria since they made the change in the power of the satellite. It's actually just a myth that it rains on the Island :).

Thanks, pjpete
I wasn't sure how well BTV was faring out there with the various challenges.

Everyone locally warns me that the rain in BC will drive Mrs. Chumley and me crazy!. Oh well, at least we won't have to shovel it in -30C temperatures in the winter... :D

I don't know about becoming a 'Nucks hockey fan though.

What with all the trees on the coast, the biggest problem may be the line of sight.

Yeah - I'm just a little north of Parksville, and with one 20" dish, I'm getting close to 100 on both satellites on a clear day. Only once in the past year have we had rain fade; a couple of times last fall we had "snow fade" (aka, snow buildup on the LNB). But a long broom handle takes care of that.

Which reminds me, you might want to ensure that your dish is accessible, at least with a long pole or broom or something: the snow we get here on the Island (when we do get it - some winters we don't get any down at sea level) tends to be thick and sticky - unlike the dust-like snow that falls/blows on the prairies.
