Bell TV: Moving to another home questions

Well, wish that was the case for me. I finally moved and here is my story.

1) The BEV guy did not show up on the day that they said, and no phone call was made to me indicating that he wouldn't. When I called BEV regarding this (the next day) they said that it was weird, because in the notes they said a move request was made, and showed the date, but they could not find the move request. So, I had to submit (over the phone) yet another move request. So three days later the BEV guy shows up. They did not even give me a credit for "forgetting" to submit the move request or whatever.

2) The person that shows up was very knowledgeable and did a professional job. However he did have to charge me $50 for the installation, but I think this was fair looking back at all the work he had to do for my house.

3) THEY DID NOT provide me with any sort of switch solution like the bell CSR told me they would (look at original post). The BEV guy had to leave all the wires "dangling" in my basement, and I had to go back to my old place, get up on the roof of a two story building (in the wind mind you) to get the SW44 which the last installer mounted on the back of my dish. I was not too happy about this either.

Oh well, now everything works, but it did cause me to wait an extra 3 days after my original date, risk my life on top of a 24' extension latter in the wind, and of course the $50 plus tax for the installation. BEV is currently not in my good books right now, but considering all the other options I will deal with it.

As a side note, do not let Bell coordinate the move for all your Bell services. Call each separately and set them up separately. Up front it's a few more minutes but at the back end you will save many hours, much grief and possibily some money.

I did the one call for all thing (about 11 months ago) and I'm still getting calls from Sympatico because they claim they don't have a valid e-mail address for me... even though they provide me with one!! It took 2 months to get ExpressVu billing problem free and 3 months to get my phone services to where they were before the move.

I just put in a move order through the retentions line. They put in two separate orders for the same day - the first to move my existing service, and the second to install an HD PVR, which is going to be a free rental for one year. In the end, the goal is to have the entire cost covered by Bell - but we will see about that.

Dish and first receiver is installed FREE OF CHARGE no matter if you are RENTING or if you PURCHASED

Ther would be a 50$ charge for the install of each additionnal receiver, EVEN IF YOU ARE RENTING

If you plan to install a second receiver in the near future might as well get it done on that same call. A tech will cost you 75$ if you call him in a few weeks to install an additionnal unit while it would only cost 50$ if you do it at the same time

Install the receiver next to a window or on a balcony if possible that way you can clear up the snow in the winter and make sure you have less interruption possible due to weather condition

You have a 90 days warranty on that installation. If you are not satisfied of the signal or if you frequently loose signal make sure to call BellTV whithin that period. They will send a second technician FREE OF CHARGE to correct the issue

Hi there

My elderly mother is moving from her home in one Ontario city to another to be closer to family. I have had some issues of my own dealing with Bell (and Rogers) in the past and am only too aware of what a nightmare can occur to one

I was planning on pulling the SW44 foresure. You mean a 3rd cable off of the SW44 correct? I know i only have 2 cables coming from the dish itself.

thanks,
brad.

I guess you should have taken the switch. I guess the person that said not to trust ExpressVu with their installs was right.

when i move on march 1st, bell tv came to install my new dish on feb 28th, and the rep of bell tv, told me they will charge me 50$ for two receivers.
i received my bill and never got charge for this. is this normal? and my bill was mail on the 12 march.

Excellent point. Yes we run into more problems with Moves, when the customers called Bell and not Express Vu.

Newbie here. I currently have BEV with an old 2700 receiver in a rental. We are moving to a brand new rental that has the external wiring for satellite and internal wiring for Shaw cable. I will keep the existing receiver for the basement, but would like to hook up 3 new receivers on the main floor (living room and 2 bedrooms). I am considering buying a new receiver and renting 2 others. Not considering HD at this time.

Questions:
1) Wiring. How much new wiring/outlets will need to be done on the main level? I'm assuming that the existing Shaw cable outlets can't be used.
2) Multiplexer. When I scheduled the move, I was told I would need a multiplexer to run up to four receivers. How complex is the setup for this and can I do it myself?
3) Any other problems I might run into?

All I'm worried about is creating new holes/outlets which might not be ok with the landlord. I'm asking here before I approach the landlord (and appear to be smart).

Thanks.

I will answer what I can for you;

Bell recently changed the rules for Move Orders. If a Customer has an HD Receiver ALL receivers (SD & HD) on the account are installed net free, meaning, you might pay $50 for the extra lines but will get a Credit on your next bill.

As they are now using DPP LNBF's they will probably NOT use an SW44, they will install the DPP LNBF and run 2 lines, 1 for the 3100 and 1 for the 9242, this receiver will also get a DPP Seperator behind the unit.

If you were just calling TV, you would give them about 4-6 weeks before the install date at the new place.

You should call 310-bell to have move orders done for all services at once.

It should NOT affect your current services. You could put the account on temporary programming suspension if it were going to be longer than 6 weeks. That should not affect any of your discounts. If you don't want the suspension, your billing will continue on as if she were getting the signal.

Make sure that you get a time frame for the installation date. If it's done right, they will give you a morning, afternoon, or evening time frame. If they tell you that your time frame is "all day", then there could be something wrong with the order.
