If your current setup only has 2 lines, one from each LNBF, then the 9200 cannot be running correctly. If you do a "Check Switch" if MUST fail.

The SW44 NEEDS all 4 inputs to work correctly to give reception from both orbital locations.

SW44's will work with 2 inputs from the same LNBF but will then only work as a regular SW24.

Every tuner needs it's own feed with the Legacy LNBF's and Swithch's they use.

Cogeco has PVR and non-PVR HD boxes for rent and/or buy.

If the dish and cable remains in place, can't he just buy a STB and plug it in with having somebody come down?

Hi everyone;
I am currently in the proccess of moving, and I was wondering if I require to take my SW44 switch with me or is this something the bell install guy gives me when he does the install at my new address? The reason I ask is becuase I was talking with two different CSR's on the phone, and they both gave me different answers.

The first CSR (when I called to schedule my move) said I require to take it. I then called back yesterday because I found out my SW44 switch is installed on the back of the dish (the bell install guy did this) and it would be a pain in the ass to get up there and take it down to bring with me (but seeing how bell charges like $150 for it, I would find a way on my roof!). So when I was talking with the CSR that time and explained that the bell guy installed it on the back of the dish she told me not to worry about it, leave the SW44 with the dish and I will get a new one (free?) when I get the dish installed at my new address.

Who should I beleive?

What I meant is that if you've got single tuner HD boxes like 6100/6142s, you get SW21s as part of the move promotion. If you have a dual tuner HD box, you'll get a SW44.

1. What do you mean "external wiring for satellite". Generally speaking you can't use the internal cable and would need to run some lines.
2. Its called a multiswitch and yes you will need one. See the installation guides in these forums for more details.

Wow, no kidding, I had the system installed by Bell and they only ran two lines.

So, on the dish on our new house, I need two LNB's on there, each with two lines running into the SW44?

thanks,
brad.

What I like about BEV is the HD lineup which seems much superior to Cogeco or my current Rogers offering.

HD is pretty much all we watch, except for Food-Tv and my wife likes HGTV...

:p

I'm quite sure you do have to take the switch with you.Actually I think your suppose to take the additional LNB also if you have the Nimiq2 upgrade. It would be best to take it to be sure.

Not always. If you have a 6100 & 3 x 3100's you would get an SW44.

The Technicians get paid to install an SW44 they get ZERO for a pair of SW21's even though there are almost the same number of connectors and amount of work involved. Which do you think the Tech will choose.?

Likly be charged on your next bill. The installer has to submit the paper work and then it gets invoiced. Make sure its correct as well. I had issues with being billed for the reciever as well as the additional lines run when i moved and it took forever to get it sorted out.

The paperwork completed by the Installer NEVER goes to Bell, unless there is some kind of dispute, then a copy is faxed from the Installation Co to Bell.

Bell just seem to charge customers with "Move" orders based upon the number of receivers on the account.

When caling in to activate the receivers it is important to stress that ONLY 1 receiver has been hooked up. (If that is indeed the case).

At $150.00 I would certainly take it with me. Wow! you must have been sold a gold plated version for that price!:D

Call Express Vu, for the free Move Promo.

They should provide you the Dish the LNBF's and the SW44, if they try to charge you for the SW44, just hand over yours.......

The 9200 will be installed free, including a backfeed to another TV in the house.
They will most likely mount the SW44 at the rear of the Dish, then you just need to run a line from here to your other receiver.

Having Express Vu install both receivers will cost you $50 but you will get a 90 day warranty.

If, as I suspect, you will have lots of other important things to do, let Express Vu do it, it will save you quite a bit of time and effort.

And lets face it, for $50, you can just watch them......lol

i had to activate 1 receiver. the rest just to plug it. in total i have three. 1/2700, 1/4100 and 1/5900. but the thing is when i plug my 5900, i lost everything that i have recorded. so for those who wants to move in the future and have a pvr, make sure that you transfer everything or watch it before unpluged it.

I'm wondering what the cost is for moving from a house which has ExpressVu (it was a new house and Bell installed it for me) to another new house which Bell would install the system again. I know I bring my receivers with me, but what about the dish? Is there an installation charge by Bell if the cabling is done by the builder? What about the multi switches?

Go to the bell web site, click "Are you moving" follow the prompts. They will tell you exactly what is and what is not covered.

In the past, they covered the cost of the first receiver/dish. Additional receivers cost extra ($50?). Take the switch with you just in case.

I know where to find it on Bell's site. I was interested in actually hearing from someone who has gone through the move to see if there are any hidden costs which are not spoken about. There usually is.

Wow, a 2700 on Rental, that is a new one to me, as a single receiver Rental anyway, do not recall these ever being rented, with the exception of MDU's (Apartments).

Anyway, as a Move Promotion you would get that receiver hooked up for free at the new place, along with a new Dish. If you require any more lines at that time, you will be paying $50 each for them plus $75 for the Multiswitch (this switch is for SD reception ONLY).

Hooking up a Multiswitch is easy, although if you only have the one free receiver installed as the Move Order allows, you will need to reach the Dish after-wards to run a second line to the Switch.

I would recommend talking with the landlord as I would have all new cable if you decide to add more receivers, one line to each if you are going with SD receivers.

I called today and the Bell tech said just about all that. I have arranged for the install to happen on Feb 8. It is a Sunday and we'll see how it goes.
