Bell TV and RDS

Hi all,

Does anyone know if there is anyway to subscribe to RDS without having to subscribe to the theme it belongs to?

I've phoned twice and was told no each time so I'm obviously guessing it's not possible however I've read here that sometimes you need to fall on the right rep to get the services you really want.

I live in Montreal and find unfortunate that RDS isn't pick and pay or part of the sports theme pack with TSN. Otherwise it's $8 for what really amounts to a channel I only want for Habs games.

Makes the 15 channel pack with channels you choose look good on Videotron.
 
Unfortunately you can only subscribe to RDS in the theme pack with all the other channels. if you have at least 5 theme packs however, it only costs $5.00/mo instead of $8 which softens the blow a bit.
 
I get it included with Centre Ice, only the standard definition version [123] though. For some illogical reason it doesn't include RDS HD [863].
 
Call in and ask if you can have RDS as a pick and pay channel...maybe they can offer it as part of an offerring for you?? I know when I called in - they seemed to offer it - but I neglected at the time...
 
Unfortunatly, that channel is not a pick and pay option...and no, they can not make a special offer for you.

Why?

In the system (CSG) they have the programming option available. All the themes AND pick and pay are listed there. To be able to add a channel it needs to be listed in those programming option. Since RDS is not offered in pick and pay and pay the agent will see the corresponding theme, but won't see the channel in the pick and pay section.

If you complain you might run into an agent that will offer you a monthly credit of 2.50$ to compensante, but they are not supposed to. I had a similar case when I worked there and my supervisor told me not to credit saying that it clearly shows on the BEV pamphlets that this is the rule, and client signed up and agreed to have the service still, so he has to live with it now.
 
Ok....but if you sub to 5 EN themes, you can always change one for the French theme that includes RDS thus not changing your monthly bill. After HABS are over,just change back to your English theme... pretty simple. If you take 5 themes it is $20 - which works out to $4 per theme...not too shabby.
 
Grabed this right off of the bell web site when looking at thier HD Extra programming package. For the guy who was asking about RDS as a pick & pay channel

To add icing on the cake, if you only wanted TSN HD for example, you would have to sub to the SD sports package and HD sports package. For me that would be $13 bucks for 1 channel that I really want. I told them to stuff it.
