Bell TV Account in USA?

I'm living in upstate NY, can get Bell equipment and install it myself. I want Bell as opposed to a US Dish Network account, due to different channel availability. Satellite signal definitely available. Should be needless to say, I'm willing to pay to receive reception legally. Contacting Bell directly would no doubt bring a response of "we don't sell accounts outside of Canada". Any suggestions as to a workaround? Fake Canadian service address with bills received/paid online? Posing as an Rv'er/traveler?. Any US-based satellite providers reselling accounts cross-border?

Wow, that seems like quite great lengths to get service when you can get Dish. I was always under the impression that Dish has more in the way of channels.

Is it really worth the bother?

Sure Dish has more. But most people get Cdn dish for what US dish/cable do NOT offer: Cdn programming.
 
Well, I for one would rather watch the CBC news channel than FOX or CNN. But hey, maybe I'm the only one. :)
 
Nope, you're not the only one. There are a few good shows like Canada's Greatest Handyman, RMR and The Boarder...

Sorry man, I couldn't resist.

I had Canuck sat then US (back to Bell, now), and although I'd say there's a bit more to pick from on the US side o' thangs, I miss my Canadian programming. Local news and the like (the odd show). I can't get any kind of OTA unless I want to spend some bucks, and then there's precious little.

The whole thing mentioned about watching Canuck telly had me chortle a bit, as there's plenty of Canuck stuff that's been picked up in the US over the years. Remember Kids in the Hall? I watched that one night when I was in the US and it was bleeped to bleep.

But now I'm just droning on . . . .
 
Time shifting, which is non-existent in the USA(1-ABC, 1-NBC, 1-FOX, 1-CBS). TSN-not overrun by basketball and football like ESPN. International hockey not available in the US. Not as much censorship with language and nudity as there is in the US(very puritanical). Access to Canadian and British shows (and news) not available in the US. These are just some of the reasons for someone in the US to go with Bell (or Shaw).
 
I'd also much rather watch Cdn. services. Also as far as I can tell the BBC News channel is not available in the US - another major selling point for me.
 
Yeah, I don't recall seeing that either when I was on US telly. BBC America is offered if one is on both Dish sats, but I was only pointed at the one that didn't have it.
 
The main channels I'm interested in are CBC and other news, and believe it or not - Muchmusic and their 3-4 secondary channels. I know many people bust on them, but I consider them far superior to MTV. I've been able to watch a few videos in low-q directly off their site, found just as many blocked as "unavailable in my area". I watched them 15 years ago on a C-band dish, still found decent stuff on their site yesterday. Movies I normally get from DVD or Blu-ray, so censorship of entertainment received over the satellite isn't a major issue. I think I've found a way to do this, should be following through in the next few months.
