BELL receiver at cottage

Because we are not comparing TV to cell phones but TV service to TV service and multiple addresses.

You said he might never get the call...it is very unlikely he won't get called since he has 6 receivers.

SAT tries to call call people with 5-6 receivers on the account prioritarly...

I see a lot of mention of multiple receivers, Policies, Phone Lines etc; however if I only have one reciever and I am planning a trip to the cottage for a week... Would my receiver work or not? There would be no receiver left at home, and its not plugged in to a phone line due to the location its in, and there's only one phone line.
My dad said he would help me set it up, but .. this is not looking good from what I've read so far.

As said, they will call you you read numbers from receiver screens.

Starchoice, to date, doesn't do that, and from what I see on their known screens, there is no analog to the Location ID on Bell receivers. I have only one Starchoice receiver actively connected to a phone line, and all that are active work fine.

There are no worries Eastcoast
Just bring your receiver up there, plug it in, and watch tv
No need to call and tell them you are at the cottage, just plug and play

A little off topic, but not totally...

So if I want to get my Dad a receiver but have his programming and receiver appear on my bill how does that work? Do they charge me twice for the same programming?

If your Dad does not live in the same house at you he would have to open his own account.

You can get a extra receiver add it your account and then hook it up to a dish at his house but this violates Bell Policies and if they find out they will remove programing from the receiver or possuble all the receivers on your account, blacklist your account or possibly close your account.

Eastcoast there is, as mentionned, no worry...

The policiy is that if you have multiple receivers you can not have them in 2 different location at the same time. In your case you only have one receiver so you can take it wherever it please you

I wouldn't plug it into the phone line. Having it call in from a different number might raise a flag. Otherwise, there should be no issue.

As there is no problem having 1 receiver and moving it from Home to Cottage, connecting the Phone Line would be acceptable in either location, IMHO.

I think Bell requires you to call and change the primary residence and phone number whenever a receiver is moved. Even though there is nothing "wrong" with moving the receiver, it could cause an issue with Bell. I wouldn't connect the phone line.

Is it recommended that I plug only 1 of my 3 boxes to a phone line or just leave them all unplugged? I have a phone jack beside by bedroom TV, but not in my basement or living room to plug into.

Would I more likely get a call from CSR because 1 of my 3 boxes is plugged, or if none of my 3 boxes are plugged into the phone line?

You will never get a call only if you have all receivers connected to the phone line , so it does not really matter if you have one connected or none.
