Bell Rebrands self, drops Sympatico, ExpressVu names, Beaver mascots

It only goes into effect on friday I hear from ppl insde the company, here's a picture from the signs already being changed at the bell center,

Yes I had to laugh when I read that today in the Star that "Sympatico" and "ExpressVu" brands where gone…. Would be replaced with Bell TV and Bell Internet. Then I thought about it.. it’s a good idea since it’s clear what they are all about. You ask a new Immigrant to Canada ‘do you know what Sympatico or ExpressVu is?’ … they will say ‘no’ … but ask them do you know what TV or Internet is and they will all say ‘yes’.

As for those 2 drowned Rat’s… oh sorry... Beavers... I’m glad they got shaved… I hated them so much… even my 75 year old mother hated them when they would come on TV… she would ask that I change the channel.
 
Bell TV has been used on Expressvu's Interactive channels's for quite some time. This has been the works for a while.
 
I believe we will start to see the new logos in software revisions about 2 weeks ago. :)
 
Now that Sympatico and ExpressVu are under the same umbrella I guess that means Bell is not going to sell either or both of these units once the buyout closes.
 
I still see references to the beavers on the web site and it may take some time for the rest of the web content to be de-beavered.

As far as why they are doing this.... could position the services to be sold off possibly since they want to get back to their roots... perhaps these non-core businesses will be sold off.

Also, with Bell now able to offer TV over vDSL (telephone pairs) they may be trying to unify the notion of TV into one product name since they may want to get out of the dish delivery and focus on the land lines since it draws in more revenue this way... "all this on my phone line?" I guess they will always have dish delivery for rural areas but may actually be able to deliver more services over telephone lines over time (i.e. switched video like the cable cos)

I've seen the new ads on the subway trains with just part of the logo in frame but no reference to bell otherwise on Thursday night but haven't really seen any other advertisement around the change. I guess they are going to ramp up over the Olympics as they expect a lot of people to tune in and see their ads.
 
also annouced they are changing the bell logo to just BELL in bold letters. Also EVU is no longer EVu its now belltv sympatico brand is gone aswell.

I saw them changing already the logos all over the bell center in mtl
 
Should've happened sooner, as far as I'm concerned. It went on, and on, and on...enough already!:mad:

My latest paper bill (just received) still had the Expressvu logo. I guess the new logo might be on next month's. Still have to pay it in either case.
 
The BELL logo on the 9242 was updated with the V182 software. Not sure about the other receivers.

According to the news reports, they had great ratings with viewers.

I must say that we would watch them at least once rather than PVR past them like we do most commercials.
 
Thanks GAWD those two Beavers are finally gone!! They were bad from the beginning. And I always feared they'd be around until at least the 2010 Olympics.

don't know how they are going to make the PVR better with "Recording just got better" taglines as they aren't in control of that technology as they just rebrand a US box.
 
Dunno what they are thinking but think this is going to be a disaster from a marketing point of view. The current logo is what makes them stand out compared to the other (baby) "Bell"s in the US

What's with the "er" stuff? I don't get it with bett"er"... "bett" is not a word before they put "er" on it? I can see apple eat-"er" as "eat" is a real word.
