Hi All

For the past few (ok 8) months I've been having an "unregulated late fee" charge on my expressvu account, even though I pay it through online banking usually 4-5 days before its due. Over the 8 months it totaled $5.27, so I hadn't got motivated enough to give Bell a call and deal with them. Well today was the day I got motivated enough.

Well I guess in January, Bell implemented their new "One Bill" system to greatly simplify life as we know it. Since January I've been continuing to forward funds to my expressvu account number (sounds logical, no?) like I always have. After speaking to two CSR's (who were both fairly helpful) it turns out that they were in fact receiving the funds on time in the "expressvu" department , but they had to transfer them to the "One Bill" department which took a few extra days. Of course, that would now mean that my payment was late and they would have to charge me interest.

They happily refunded me the interest and gave me my "One Bill" number to use in online banking. Problem is I deal with the Steinbach Credit Union in Manitoba and I don't think they have "One Bill" listed as an online option. Or if they do, its not listed under One Bill.

Are there any members who are paying their "One Bill" through a credit union in Manitoba? I called the bank and they didn't think they had it yet, but they weren't sure.

Thx

Do you get other Bell services (than BEV) in Steinbach?

IF your Credit Union doesn't have it set up yet, and further Bell services are indeed available, ask them to set it up ASAP, as it is a service you need from them. As far as I am aware, it is a relatively simple thing for them to do.

IF no Bell services other than BEV are available to you, go back to e-billing directly from BEV.

Our local CU does not have the One-Bill as an option, but the only Bell service we can actually get here is BEV so there is no need.

Its just the name of an account it should be OK for them to set it up.
You should be able to set it up yourself online

Caprice96 If you ask they will give you a credit for whatever amount you lost if you paid the old account on time. I guess you know by now your account # has changed. Try using the new acct # with the old Payee

For online banking, there were and still are messages about bell and their bill changes ( scotiabank)

I bank with both HSBC and PCFinancial. When I setup one bill on each... PCFinancial's name for the one bill was "Bell Canada - One bill".. whereas HSBC was just Bell Canada.

What you should do is perform a search under your Bill Payments for Bell, and for each of the Bill payees that begin with Bell, try putting in your One Bill Account #. It will be denied for all but one, and that should work.

Just want to mention Caprice that there is pamphlet send out with the first one bill explaining that you will need to do that change...and most client don't read it with result like you had!

I told Bell I didn't want One Bill (since I only have one account anyway.) They didn't listen, again with the same result.

Robert, One Bill a common misnomer for the new billing platform, it just also happens to be the name of the type of bill where you have all of your services on it.
The new billing platform is actually called CSM. It gives the same look and feel to all of the bills from all lines of business.

All customer's will be migrated to BELL's CSM billing platform regardless of whether they have one service or multiple services. Each service provider is switching to the CSM platform. Sympatico, BEV, Bell Canada and Bell Mobility. There is no option not to be on the CSM billing platform.

Even if you have multiple services, you can have them all on the CSM platform and still have individual bills for each.

Nem, who is trying to explain one bill at an hour where perhaps it's too late.

No need to explain. I just don't want it due to the problems it causes. Never mind the fact that the "One Bill" CSR couldn't barely speak English and the phone line was so bad that we had to yell to hear each other. If Bell could make the changeover seamless and without extra problems while improving the level of service there would be no issue. As it is, it appears the exact opposite is true. :(

I guess I idn't make myself clear...

If the client has the Express Vu bil listed in a list of bill at the bank he had the Express Vu (8455 1234 5678 9123) number listed there. Once he is migrated to One bill he needs to change that number to the One bill
(12345ZZZ12345)

I'd be interested in knowing what problems there are. I've never had a problem with my One Bill.

Nem, who is curious

I actually left the old accounts showing in my payees list so that I could have my old account numbers available should I need them.
A customer doesn't need to erase their BEV account info as the One Bill account shows up with a different name. Now, if they have multiple One Bills (i.e. Haystack) then they may need to name each One Bill account by a different number to avoid confusion.

Nem, who was having a grand old time, until he discovered wiring problems in his car...

As long as you make the change in your list of bills at the bank to remove your Express Vu account number and put in the One bill account number (the long number with ZZZ in the middle) there shodn't be any problem.

The problem is, mny client don't read anything when they receive a bill and therefore don't make that change,, with the resul mentionned earlier. That's the only problem I see that One bill could create...

To bad Expressvu could not figure out after 8 months of getting Caprice96 money directly from him or Bell One Bill after getting 8 months late payment from Expressvu and not the customer, that the customer was paying the wrong account but I would imagine I would be told that this is not company policy.
Its only $6 bucks but it speaks millions when you let this go on then blame the customer. Bills are so chuck full of advertising that the customer does not want to see that he opens the mail at the recycle bin. I wish someone would say we should have caught it as it happens all the time.

I ended up paying money to the wrong credit card account for months after a credit card number was changed. Never had a problem. I realized it after they started itemizing the payment to the wrong account in bold letters.

That Bell is unable to handle this, fails to notify the customer of the mistake over 6 months and ends up billing late charges over it, only attests to their incompetence. I have ended up being billed for late charges by Bell on numerous occasions due to their tardiness and mistakes. The responses over the issues were often arrogant, like blaming the banks, the post office or myself. I have never had similar issues with any other service or utility in over 30 years. Bell's billing system is broken but Bell blames everyone else and refuses to take responsibility. That's arrogant as well as incompetent.

As nemnoch said I have 3 accounts with One Bill, once its set up its no problem. The troubles usually occur elsewhere and there just brought to light on the bill.
You don't have to delete an old account with expressvu to start One Bill if that what was written on the Bill no wonder people don't read it.
One Bill looked like the start of Bell and Expressvu getting along but I guess not .

Thanks djino, I added "Bell Canada" and it seemed to accept it for my one bill account number. Although I'm still nervous about paying through that account since Bell is somewhat notorious for receiving money into wrong accounts and then not being able to locate it.

Agent Express V: That's a pretty big problem that could be created by the one bill system. It seems to me that the onus should be on Bell to implement a new billing system that is transparent to end users. Why should users have to change anything? You would think the technology to link all of a persons accounts under one "one bill" number would be available so as to limit as much confusion as possible. I would think something like that would be in both Bells and the customers best interests.
