Looking at becoming a new BEV customer, as I purchases a 50" Panny plasma; would like to take advantage of the High Def world. BUT, Bell's current offer SUX to the max - anyone know of any rumours of offering a REAL deal to customers who wanna come over to the HIGH DEF packages??

If you call and ask for the 6 months half-price deal, they may give it to you. Just state that you had an old ad, some of them don't have expiry dates on them

The current promo for new clients is:

2 months of ALL the Express Vu channels (including international channels, but excluding adult channels) on a 2 years contract

with free installation

Mozza the 6 months free of HD programming is a deal offered only to EXISTING customers

Which, as Agent Express points out, for an HD customer, is a good deal upfront. You can enjoy All-In-One HD Extra -- an HD PVR, six theme packs, HD programming -- free for two months. For the remaining 22 months you will pay $2244 ($102 per month), not annual counting price increases which you will be obligated to pay until your contract expires. If you have more than one TV, your fees will be higher.

This represents an 8.3% total savings -- or about equal to local NL sales tax.

As Bell has stated, MPEG-4 HD hardware will not be activated till sometime in 2009, therefore you should be able to receive all current HD channels during the length of your contract with the MPEG-2 HD rental hardware they will supply you with today.

While you may not get certain channels available from other satellite providers -- such as Showcase and National Geographic in HD -- but you could cancel your contract (with a defined penalty) and switch early if ExpressVu did not deliver what you really wanted in 2008.

SensualPoet if you have a contract you will get a credit the equivalent of the price increase...unless you downgraded you programming, which cancels the price warranty

As usual, I have no desire to mis-state the facts.

I don't see anywhere in the Bell ExpressVu online contract which protects a June 2007 new customer from the two price increases in Feb 2008 or Feb 2009.

Can you provide a guarantee in writing somewhere?

Bell seems to whack the price UP whenever they want... unless I am mistaken, BEFORE christmas the same HD EXTRA package was $5 LESS in price....
SOrry, but 2 months free out of 24 doesn't seem like much a deal to me.... :o

I'm an existing customer, here is the deal I got:

- 1 year free rental of the 9200 ($240)
- 6 months of free HD programing ($60)
- free installation ($125)
- bigger dish, sw44, cables, etc.
- 1 year contract

I signed up for the HD package as a new customer back at the beginning of May. Got the 6 months half price, free install, etc. But i took the 6100, and now I'm wishing I had the 9200 for the ability to watch two different things at the same time (PiP, or hook it up to another TV, etc). I wonder what the chances are that they would upgrade me for no extra charge (other than the extra $7 a month)?

I just went over the contract you find on the web site...it has not been updated for along time and misses lots of info. You are right it is not written on that service agreement. It should be written on your actual copy of the contract you signed to the tech taught

So you are saying Bell is not bound by the contracts it has online? Are you saying everyone purchasing any Bell services online should ignore these agreement because they are out of date and "misses lots of info"?

If I have started a relationship based on an online contract, duly agreed to it, offered my initial payment online, and arranged for installation, and the tech arrives with subtle differences in the "work order" I might not notice, this is ok? I effectively "signed" both contracts -- which applies?

Sorry: the contract plainly available to 2 billion people on the net at www(dot)bell(dot)ca -- and which Bell itself tells customers is a place where the latest binding Terms and Conditions can be found -- takes precedence.

Be honest: All-In-One packaging contracts CLEARLY state customers are stuck with TWO years of service, with HEAVY cancellation penalties if they want to CHANGE hardware (like move from a plain SD receiver to an HD PVR), drop from Premium Movies to Digital Essentials, and have ZERO price guarantees which, in the example we were discussing, meant Feb 2008 and Feb 2009 increases for programming or hardware, must be paid in full.

I'm not saying that...just saying that there is a few mistake that have not been corrected on the on-line contract for example:

It says that if new clients wants to downgrade they need to go on locals or reseau francophonne. Those are part of Legacy and we no longer (and didn't for a few years) activate clients on Legacy, so it's impossible for a new client to get it

It says that system charge is 2.99$, but that charge was increased to 5.99$ last year. No mention that charge will be dropped by updating the programming

It says that multiple receiver fee charge is 4.99$ which is right, but doesn't say that it could also be 2.99$ if client has movies. No mention that charge will be dropped by updating the programming (there is, but it's not clear)

It says that smartcard cost is 100$, when it always was 69$. Who would get a smartcard for 100$ when receiver cost 100$ anyways?

Not a chance. It may be possible to return the 6100 but there is a large termination fee that is often not worth paying (compared to the rental cost.) Your only option with EV is to rent or buy a 9200, in addition to the 6100.

Agent could you point me to the on-line contract?

I never knew a Rental Contract was available on-line, the only one I ever noticed was the BEA (bell Express Vu Agreement).

I of course have lots of blanks in the office but it might be nice to show customers on-line if there is a dispute.

Price guarantee policies should appear on the service agreement you could find on the bell.ca

If you downgrade at any point in time in your contract, even by just removing a 1$ item it cancels your price gurantee

The 2 months free deal is 2 months FREE on ALL BEV programming, not just the HD pack...

The only increase you may have had on the HD extra is a 4$ increase on the Digital Standard (or Base Num

If you can locate that link, I'd be interested to see it. By understanding of reading the current All-In-One online contract is that the Price Guarantee was cancelled with this new program and all the contract does is force the customer to stay with Bell with exactly the same hardware and programming originally chosen or pay huge termination fees and then be forced to sign a new contract for one year at least to carry on. Your note supports this.

Before AIO, you DID get a price guarantee for 24 months; now, you do not -- you pay whatever the regular rate is and all rate increases during your term. You can "avoid" this by breaking your contract and paying more fees. It may be good for the shareholders but it is a VERY customer-unfriendly policy.

As you point out: if you originally subscribed to the $1 US feeds add-on, and then cancel those a few months later, you will have "down-graded" and be subject to $100s of dollars of termination fees.

Clients ALWAYS HAD and ALWAYS WILL have PRICE GUARANTEE when they have a contract...

If you DOWNGRADE, may it be for only 1$, you don't have a early termination charge, you just LOOSE your PRICE GUARANTEE

You can not CHANGE RECEIVERS, even if it consist an upgrade (and more $$$ for the compagny) during the course of the contract, or else you get EARLY TERMINATION CHARGES

Never said client have to keep the same programming...there is no termination charges if you change programming, you only loose you price guarantee. If the CHANGE is for the SAME VALUE you KEEP YOUR PRICE GUARANTEE

Please go over my notes before you comment!

The contracts are online. Please show us the plain english where a customer signing up today paying $54 for Digital Essentials on a 2 year AIO contract is NOT subject to price increases in Feb 2008 and Feb 2009.
