I got charged $100 on my CC as well, what is this deposit for? and, is it refundable?

How do you get to the loyalty department? It's easy but it does require a little planned tact.

You gotta smooth 'em. You go in there saying how you want to stay with them, "...but Rogers looks so good right now and Bell never goes on sale...what can you do for me to keep me on..." etc. etc. You don't go in there with guns blazing.

You're looking to get past the first line of defence who are trained to send you to the retention deal people who will grease the squeeky wheel.

I posted my first post in the wrong forum. I think it's more appopriate to post here instead. Well, we have been with Expressvu since like 1998. We are probably their first couple hundred customers. I still remember when they have an XPRS channel advertising how they are gaining customers and the start package was $8.95. Anyways, what I was wondering if I try to cancel will they try to keep me as a customer? I might be switching to Rogers digital cable because their Chinese channels are $5 cheaper.

Diento,, it was a good deal eh?? I had took that deal back in August '07, gave Shaw an old Dish510 that didnt power on anymore, got me a 6416P3 brand spanken new too, and sold my bev6100 on flebay. Shaw is horrible for picture quality, I could get a better picture watching analogue channel from the bunny ears then what was offered on digital cable. Oh well sold their box for $450 and when a picked it then 9242,, oh about a month ago now and been happy since :D

Just call to close your account, say you can can get a better deal else where. Don't agree to stay untill the third offer.;)

Not sure if u are a new customer or existing, but if you are existing check out this thread.

I called in to cancel my service and asked the rep to pull up my account to see all the problems I was having since I reactivated my account from suspension. She was very polite but unfortunately her computer "crashed". This is not the first time this has happened so I figure the reps have really cheap computers or it's a cue for me to be passed on to someone else. Enter rep #2 who offers to replace my 6100. I ask about the 6141 and its features (including Mpeg4) and he tells me the only difference is that it has a coax out! After I disagree with him, he puts me on hold for 10 minutes to check this out. He returns to apologize that I was correct. He tells me that my 6100 would be swapped for a 6141 in the future when need be for free. I ask if I could have that in writing to which he replies no because "we don't know what the company will do in the future."
I understand that he wouldn't know that but why make a statement like that in the first place? Have other people had issues getting a straight answer when calling in to speak with someone?

Anyway the bottom line after all this was the following offers:

1) replace the 6100 for free (no contract I assume)
or
2) 2 year free rental on the 6141 (1 year contract - perhaps sync issues from what I read?)

I would appreciate any input on these offers. Going back to cable seems so peaceful now.

In the past retention department has done better than your offer are you sure you spoke to the retention dept. I would seek 30% credit on your programing for a year on top of their offer. once you got this out out the way your good for a year.:D

I called EV today and they offered to replace my owned 9200PVR with a
9242,free for 1 year,$20 a month after or purchase for $300. They would also waive the install charges and a $75 fee for something. There is also a 40%
programing discount,from $87 to $52 a month for 1 year.This comes with no contract.
I think this sounds good and was told it was the best they could offer.

Wow, why go through chat? The reason for discounts is very personal - chats are cold and totally devoid of any human interaction - They won't care if you cancel.

Just call them, it works!!

Contract is up in a month and called today to get the ball rolling. After only 1 other offer they offered 30% off programming(down to about $70), and when I told them I wanted to give back my 6100 and 4100(rentals) and get a 9242 to go along with one I already have she offered it free for 1 year. I think it is a pretty good offer although I may try to get my present 9242 rental free for the next year too!! Any thoughts?

Thanks

rsambuca how far into yoru contract are you ? im thinking about phoning in and bitching about the same as well an then some im into my 2nd year now

A friend of mine recently cancelled his ExpressVu service, and he borrowed a set of rabbit ears from me so he could get some local stations. The very next day, ExpressVu called him and offered six months at $10 a month if he came back. The rabbit ears never got used. He didn't seem to loose any of his bundled discounts, either.

Just call in and close your account, if they don't transfer you to the rentention office right away, they will call you 2-3 weeks later making you a offer to stay.

I'm not under contract. My two-year contract expired last year sometime. Personally, I don't believe in mid-contract negotiations - if I didn't want to live with the contract, I wouldn't have signed it in the first place.

Anyways, they offered 10% off, then 20%, then 20% plus a discounted new receiver, then the 30% discount which I accepted. I also didn't have to re-sign a contract so I am free to change things at any time, as are they.

I have been a long time Bell customer, have Sympatico high speed, Bell home phone, no long distance as I use VOIP, Express Vu, old Super 7 package which includes high definition, and Pay and Talk Mobile with Bell. I am looking at getting a better deal from Bell ie High def PVR . Does the retention department take into account all your services or do they negotiate individually? Is 2 years the minimum contract have to agree to if I rent the new high def pvr, do not need dish, SW44 switch, etc as I already have it when I bought my 6000 receiver. Thanks in advance.
