im looking to into sport bikes but dont know too much about them. i need a good bike for beginners (but of course i still want it be quick and sexy) .. from what i've read, ppl say for beginners to look at the 600 level or so... i love the look of the yamaha R1 but all these ppl say its not good for beginners. i really want the bike to have the exhaust pipes under the seat.. any reccomendations?

The guy above me made some very good points. If you dont want the cruiser style bike and want a sport bike get a ninja 250, they are much cheaper that a 600, btw a 600cc sport bike is never the way to go..thats what i have now and its my second bike and its just now getting over the break in period and it has so much power that a new rider would not be able to handle for atleast a year or two of seasoned riding on a smaller bike that you can learn faster on and with a smaller bike like the 250 your confidence with go up as well and you wont look like a noob on a brand new sport bike.

I think you should reassess. An interesting statistic is that 1/2 of all motorcycle accidents happen in the first 10 hours. Pick up a used bike, 250-600 cc. Ride it for 6 months and sell it. By then you'll know what you want. And if you dump it in those first 10 hours it won't cost as much.

A sportbike for your first bike is a TERRIBLE idea. People aren't looking for you, and some would rather run you down than to look at you...It matters not how quick and sexy your bike is.. The street is a dangerous and hostile place.
FIRST,.. take the MSF cycle course. They supply the bike and when you are finished your license is a signature away. Get a cruiser style bike for your first bike. Why? Sportbikes are designed to deliver power and performance way beyond your skill level... its that simple...They have a lower center of gravity, a lower seat height, are much easier to ride and control, and is forgiving to inexperience. They respond well to increases in skill and confidence, and provide much needed comfort for the operator and any passenger you might want to carry. (riding position and fatigue are issues to consider)
They generally cost less and are much cheaper to insure. Take the course... LISTEN to the instructors... Apply what they teach out on the street. Don't give motorcycling a bad name by acting like a moron. Ride safe. Stay alive. Don't be a statistic...Don't be seduced by the guys out there stunting... no, its not cool. Its stupid.
I didn't get 40 years in the saddle by acting like they do...

NO, a 600 is a terrible bike to start on, if you want to go that size get a v-twin 650, but no 600 supersport. the pipe under seat is not a good design, it looks cool but it isnt cool. it makes the seat get hot
