I live in Australia, and am trying to find a starter bike. I'd love to find a black and chrome cruiser suitable for beginners. Since i am a girl i'll need one that isn't giant, lol. Does anyone know any good models that are suitable?

Buell Blast, Harley Davidson Sportster 883...the sporty would be my pick..would be your first and last bike...very tame, some day when you wanted to, you could hot rod it. i just talked to a lady at the store that has had her sporty for 21 years. you cant do that with ANY jap bike.

there are a multitude of Jap cruisers, starting with the wee rebel 250..but i wouldnt recommend that...its like riding a moped :)

OZZIE,OZZIE,OZZIE.. any of the Jap 250s are great learner bikes..

Virago Yam.. eliminator Kawasaki,, hyosung is good to..even one of the older single cylinder 250s..SR yam or suzuki..

buy second hand.. & ride it for 6 months.. or until your off your Ls..
you will get what you paid .. back as a trade in..

then maybe look at something newer black & shiny..maybe even a bit bigger ..

better to throw a cheap bike down the road rather than your nice new pride & joy.

A Honda Rebel 250 is a good place to start. They are affordable, reliable, easy to learn on, and have a good resale for when you want to upgrade.
Big daddy is wrong. Jap bikes are as reliable as they come! Harleys although very stylish break down quite a bit, and cost twice as much. I will save my money and ride Hondas. I am from Milwaukee!
