Before computers, did saying the word "chat" make you feel foolish?

Not at all. It`s a perfectly good word that means to talk together.
Is it possible that my 78 years have separated me from the modern English language?

I like Chat its a Chatty word....never use it in real life im far too quiet :)
 
Well uncomfortable actually but not really foolish, for I often found myself being chatted to, not with, about my ability to disappoint some ones expectations of me.
