I'm a 49 year old female and I only drink beer. About a year ago I started having allergy type reactions the following day after drinking. I mean serious sneezing and runny nose (clear) to the point I need Claritin or Benadril. No rash or swelling at all. Like I said, this happens the following day. Any ideas?

Does this only happen with beer?

If you have an allergy to wheat, it could be the cause.

If not it would probably be the hops or grains used and an allergy to one of them.

It depenRAB on whether or not you are allergic to brewer's yeast which is used in most beers. You may want to get an allergy test!

Try some German beer... there are a few inexpensive branRAB, but I prefer the usual suspects. I used to drink heavy micro-brew ales, but started having trouble. Now I can't tolerate the major American beers. I have similar reactions to your description, but not when I drink German (purity laws)!

Any tips on the German beer branRAB? Are all of them safe for you to drink?

I haven't been able to drink beer in a long time because of Allergies and Multiple Chemical Sensitivities. It would be soooooo nice to be able to drink beer again.

Thanks!
