been riding a 1974 honda cb 360, Would it be a good idea to get a 96 cbr 900rr next?

I know people should not start out on sportbikes, so I chose a tiny bike, but now I am looking for more power, the bike is a 96 and 918 displacement. So I figure its not as crazy as modern bikes, let me know what you guys think.
