I saw it tonight and I'm completely absorbed by them. Such a tragic love story. I LOVED it.

The way I saw it:

[sp] is that even though she never ended up with him, they loved each other till the end. Now, this is total speculation but my little hopelessly romantic heart likes to believe it. I nearly melted when i read he named his daughter, Jane.

It's not like ever other love story. It's unique in it's own right. I knew going into it how it ended so I had prepared myself for a tragic/depressing ending.

So, tragically beautiful. :sigh:[/sp]

Sidenote: I now have a crush on James McAvoy. :thud:

For those that want icons, I found this site tonight: Becoming_Icons:D

I cant wait to see this movie! I love all of Jane Austin's books and the films they have done to them, and Im glad they are doing a movie to her life. I've just heard great stuff about it. :)

I just read the last page of this thread and smiled. I own this movie but have never seen it. I'm off today---I think I'll pop it in and watch it!

Thanks everyone!

I saw this movie last week, and I enjoyed it. I thought James and Anne were both wonderful in it.

I saw it tonight and I absolutely adored it. It also completely broke my heart -- I cried and cried -- but I loved it. So achingly romantic. :sigh:

Thank you for this!!

Being a huge fan of Jane Austen and her work, I couldn't wait to finally see this movie, and I wasn't disappointed! I absolutely  it, I cried so much it's insane... I couldn't stop!!!

I read that Jane and Tom did fall in love in their early twenties but because of their situations and lack of money, couldn't marry so they each went their own way and never saw one another again... I like the ending of the movie better!

I can't wait to watch it,specially for Maggie Smith! She's my favourite and just from the trailer I can say her interpretation is superlative as usual!

Finally saw this movie and I thought it was pretty good. Very depressing but it had to be considering that's the life Austen lived.

I wasn't too sure about Hathaway portraying Austen but I must say I was impressed.

She and McAvoy had some great chemistry so that was fun to watch.

It was enjoyable to see how Austen spent her life writing instead of finding that perfect husband; and while she came close Austen did not get that fairytale ending herself.

Definately a nice and sweet movie.

i watched it and loved it!! the acting was really good! it was kind of depressing but really beautiful!

I just got back from seeing this movie and have been listening to one of my cd's. A song played that really reminded me of Jane and Tom. When it comes out on video, I hope to make a music video using it. Anyway, here are the lyrics and tell me if you agree. (Also, see if you can listen to some of it because it's a very pretty song.) I'm going to put this in spoilers, since it may give some clues to the ending.

[sp]"Miss You Till I Meet You"
by: Dar Williams

I tried again, I went last night
Another date was just not right
And as I drove my self back home
A little voice said just be alone
But some times I think I see you in a crowd
It's not picture perfect
You're just meant for me somehow

And I'll miss you till I meet you
I'll miss you till I meet you
I miss you all the time

I love the world just as it is
And I won't lose my faith in it
But there are days I think of you
Saying "Hey, that's beautiful,
Yeah, I see it too"
It all goes by so fast, like waving hands
You want to capture things
Find some one who understands

And I'll miss you till I meet you
I'll miss you till I meet you
I miss you all the time

Can you keep me awake
I thought you could help
Just to feel my way
Find my better self

I'll miss you
I'll miss you
I miss you all the time

The morning's gone, all dreamed away
But that's all right, it's Saturday
When people think that they might see
The next chapter of their destiny
And when Monday morning comes around
I'll get the work done, but I'll listen for the sound

And I'll miss you till I meet you
I'll miss you till I meet you
I miss you all the time[/sp]

I was so happy to see this movie had it's own thread.

I saw the movie when it came out and fell in love with it. With Jane and Tom and Anne and James. :sigh: I recently rewatched it and now I can't stop. I fell in love with the characters all over again. I'm a huge Jane Austen fan and this film is such a treat.

I loved Jane and Tom's relationship. The scene after they've run away together where he begs her to stay. :bawl: I think James was brilliant there and in the scene where they see each other after he's gotten engaged. And George asks her if she loves Tom and she tells him no. That if she did then she would detest the very sight of him and then he rushes up and kisses her. :thud: That scene was amazing. And then ending when we find that he named his daughter Jane. I love this movie and their love story. I can't stop rewatching it. :lmao:

I loved the movie first off. I feel a bit required to give some sort of an opinion... but I'm trying to remember where the bit she read at the end was and am having a bit of trouble finding it... Or really all i'm looking for is the quote if anyone can find it.

I haven't seen it yet. But I would  to. I  Anne Hathaway and I  Jane Austen so why not see it. :D

I just saw this film and loved it, loved it! And James McAcoy looking mighty fine...
