That part made me laugh for some reason.

I also love how the music kind of pauses for a second after the "having fun with two mommies" part. As if they're giving kids a second or two to soak in the ~crazy~ notion of a kid having two moms.
 
I actually laughed during most of it, and I'm gay.

It seems so cheesy and hokey, but that could be because of the CGI. I don't think I'll watch it, but I think it existing is nice. Although I don't think the fact the kid has lesbian parents should be made such a focal point.
 
I don't have a problem with the fact that they're lesbians or anything, but this just looks like a really lame show. I mean, okay, so it's a kid with lesbian parents, and.. how exactly is this supposed to be an interesting show? Judging from this preview, apart from making it clear that they're lesbians, they're sort of glossing over anything they could do with that storywise, and otherwise it looks like a very boring kids' show. I can't see any kids watching this and thinking "wow, I wanna watch that!"
To me, it almost seems like the whole show is designed to be as bland as possible apart from the lesbian aspect, so that kids associate lesbians with "normal; nothing to get excited about". Which would be a fine idea, if they weren't wasting lots of people's time and money creating an unappealing show in the process.
 
So they made it as dull as possible to show that lesbians lead normal lives? What a dumb concept. I guess its heart is in the right place, but it keeps pointing out that it's about homosexuals, which kind of negates the purpose of the show in the first place.
 
Could you cram it down my throat a little more? I don't think I've choked on politcal correctness yet.

It's fine if you want to have a show with a character who has two moms, but, sheesh, if that's the whole appeal of the show it's going to go nowhere fast.

But since it's controversial, it'll get far more buzz than it should.
 
The main issue that I have with this video is not that the boy's parents are lesbians, but the fact that the boy's parents being lesbians seems to be this video's only outstanding feature. Everything else about it seems bland and generic. Also, the lesbian angle is way too overstated here. Seriously, the "2 moms" line was sang about 8 times in the theme song. OK, we get it. The kid has 2 moms. No need to bludgeon us with it.

All homosexual issues aside, that was some of the cheapest CGI animation that I've ever seen. It actually would been an improvement if it had employed plain old hand drawn animation.

I wonder what would happen if someone were to make a video about a kids whose parents were an interracial couple. It could work, as long as their being interracial would NOT be the shows' main or only selling point.
 
That's funny, though inappropriate.


I think what's good for any cartoon, is that if you have a character with two moms or dads, it should be subtle, not the show's selling point.
 
Well... that was interesting. I think the idea of having a lesbians is a great idea and I definately like how it seems that it will be realistic. While I do fully support gays and lesbians in every way, the trailer just focused too much on the fact that the boy has two mothers. Aside from that solving mysteries from Socrates, only the two mothers were pointed out. In fact, they kept on repeating that fact like five times. I'm sorry, but the weak CGI animation and the way this song was sung just made me laugh a bit.

I think that it would be better if there was something else about the show, besides the boy having two mothers. While I still love that idea, the show just needs something more than that. I think the creators are trying to keep it as realistic as possible so that they won't receive complaints. Of course, I can just picture the fire this will go under, as Cloud55 and Neo Yi have mentioned. Still, it would be nice if the show will develop something else interesting about it besides the lesbian parents.
 
The funny thing is...they really don't make it clear that the two women are lesbians. While the singer does repeatedly say "two mommies," you never see the women interacting with each other. They're always in their separate boxes or by alone with Buddy G until the very last shot, where they gather around the kid (who's placed conveniently between the two to prevent them from touching) and smile at the camera.

The only thing they're really being cramming into our faces is the whole "two mommies" part, and a lot of people will probably just assume it's a Full House-type situation or something.
 
No, it's not. It appears to be online only. I see no mention in the article of any potential television airing. Why would anyone get upset over something they have to go to a website and see? I completely fail to see what's revolutionary about this. It's not breaking any barriers on children's television or anything. After all, it's not even ON television.

Though, I do think we need more lesbians on childrens television. Toei should bring over Sailor Stars and this time keep Uranus and Neptune's relationship intact. They do kind of raise Hotaru as well, so there you have it. Two lesbian mothers. See Toei, you could have had a show that revolutionizes children's TV in the U.S., but you blew it.

By the way, am I the only one who gets the urge to punch Buddy G just from looking at his face? I mean, he just has one of those faces that's begging to be punched.
 
While I (as a gay guy) feel cartoons could use more openly-gay characters that aren't there just for A) the butt of some lame gay joke or B) stereotyped in some manner, I have to agree with the others above that this effort seems a bit on the bland looking side, judging from the trailer. Agree as well the fact it's not on television might also hurt its visibility/impact...

Think any show with gay characters probably should probably treat such characters as being as zany/wacky/serious/whatever like anyone else on whatever show they'd be in, with their being gay no more played up (plot demands aside) than some character being Black, etc....

I read about this at The Big Cartoon Database a while ago. At the forums, I mentioned how I found it odd that they didn't focus on the parents. I honestly don't see why they made the parents lesbians if it would never affect their son at anytime during the show.
