Just wanted to see if anyone else out there loves the film Beautiful Thing based on Jonathan Harvey's play with Bad Girl Linda Henry...

My favourite lines have to be....

Jamie: "That'll be the phone!"

Sandra: "Well it wouldn't be the bloody 'oover bag would it!"
:D
and when Jamie tells Ste to give Leah an e

Leah:"I'm not after sympathy!"

:)

That Mr Bennett looks very familiar....

Love Myra Seeyal too, she should've got a bigger part!!

Also love the bit when Leah sings One Way Ticket and looks a bit daft! Some of her outfits...

I still cringe at the fight Jamie and Sandra have... the way she backs onto that chair and then they both fall on the floor! Classic!

It's great film! Leah in the film (girl who loves mama Cass) makes me laff a lot too! A lot of the cast done good from that film!

*BUMP*

sorry to revive this old thread :p

I've just watched the film a few days ago and it is absolulty brill ! LoaRAB of great lines in it :D

Great chemistry between the two boys :)

I'm going to bump up this thread even though I have not been looking on the tv listings part of this site, so sorry if there is another thread about it already. :o

Hi, Carl mate. How are you? I am doing good. It's also on tonight, this Saturday that we are in now. On Channel 4 at 01:55 to 03:25. Love the movie to bits. Hehehe. :D

Film: Beautiful Thing
[repeat] [subtitles] [signed] [widescreen]
(1995) Glen Berry plays Jamie, a youngster bunking off school, hardly noticed by mother, who seeks refuge with his classmate Ste (Scott Neal) who lives in the same block. And one night, they end up sleeping in the same bed. The film gently, unsensationally celebrates their emerging sexual identities.

Dazza xo :)

Always a good movie, but I hated that woman flapping her arms about in the corner, obliterating the screen with her signing. I wish there was a facility to turn it off as it ruined it for me and was way too distracting.

Good that the deaf community has signed movies though,it just didnt work for me.

I must agree, even on analogue Channel 4 had that woman signing, and she was in the way most of the time! When Jamies mum found Ste crying outside, she was standing in the way, so we couldn't see what she was staring at! And once, she looks down to her bottom left and gives a dirty look, and she just happened to be looking straight at the signing woman!

Still, great film, have it on DVD, but watched it again last night when I got home from the pub. Wish my teen years were like that!

Paddy :D
