Hello, how are all of you?

I am a HUGE Beatles fan, don't know about every one else here. I have been downloading their music like mad

I must say that my favorite songs include Hey Jude, A Day In The Life, Dear Prudence, Rocky Racoon, Yesterday, Something, and Happiness is a Warm Gun. But there are SO many great songs.

They were pioneers. They were the first long-haired band in American rock, they resurrected more serious music in a time that the Rock market in America was saturated with very disposable music, I mean it had fallen into a rut since Elvis left. The Beatles were the first band to put out a concept album(Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band), and it could be said that the song "Helter Skelter" off of the White Album was the first punk rock song(nearly 10 years before the genre even really started).

I just wanted to have a good thread on this legendary band. The only other rock n' roll band that matches them for quality in my opinion is Pink Floyd. And I think the Beatles even has them beat out for sheer number of amazing songs.

What are your opinons/thoughts on The Beatles?

Actually alot of these idiots at my High School who will eat up any of the crap MTV and the music industry throws at them(like all of this really cruddy rap music) hate stuff like the Beatles. It is bad because it is "old".

And there stuff is good because its..."New"!?

"Its new, its stupid, I love it!"

I feel that. There's too many closed-minded people out there to take a minute to appreciate good work when they see it. They think that all this newer, "cooler", more mass-marketed crap is automatically good.

Neither of these statements are true, now who's being close minded?

I've listened to the Beatles, I appreciate there impact and the fact that they made good music, but its not my kind of music, plain and simple. I know many people that share my opinion. I don't mean to hijack this thread I just wanted to de-bunk the myth that the Beatles are the best band ever.

Yeah I want to Hold your Hand is really serious. Along with I'm the Walrus, eight days a week, maxwell's silver hammer, octopus' garden, etc.

Now thats just stupid.

You're right, neither good music, nor bad music exist, it's all opinionated. I suppose I was being a bit stupid with my previous two posts My apologies.

But it is noteworthy to point out that a lot of people do dislike banRAB like The Beatles and have never heard any or much of their music. This isn't limited to the Beatles either, it happens to many, many banRAB

And I would try to argue, that if you gathered a large enough group of people, and tried to find a band which the entire group could appreciate, I would say the Beatles would be one of my first choices

No need to apologise, what you said about people judging them without hearing them is very true, there so big that people feel they know there sound without even hearing it. I kinda agree on the group issue, the music they make tenRAB to be appreciated by people from all walks of life/musical tastes.

Its not as stupid as you think, Helter Skelter is attributed as being one of the first "heavy" songs ever, though its not heavy by todays standarRAB of course.
