Beaming an App from one Tungsten to another

I thought this was straightforward, but I can't do it. I thought all that was necessary was to ensure that Beam Receive is set to On on both Palms, but clearly there is more to it. When I do that the sending Palm says it can't detect another Palm out there. Can anyone tell me what else I must do?

I also tried to do it by 'Sending' via Bluetooth in zLauncher, but that didn't work, either, despite both Palms having their Bluetooth On.

I also couldn't beam a DateBk5 item from on one Palm to another.

Do I need to ferkle around in the Communication settings and risk upsetting the fact that my Palm does talk to my phone via BT?

You may want to try a "soft reset" on both devices. I've had problems in the past with "beaming" and I've gone the soft reset route and beaming was enabled again.

As for the beam receive setting, you only need beam receive "ON" on the receiving palm. I normally keep it "OFF" to conserve battery power. If it is on - I believe the Palm does a "search" for other devices that my be trying to send to it.

Thank you for your suggestions. I'll have another go during the weekend. As a hardened Palm user I have come to feel that beaming is flaky. There have been times when I've been able to beam Datebk5 events and times when I've had to abandon it.

Can anyone clearly tell me that it is nothing to do with the Communication settings, particularly Communication>Connection, where there is an item called 'IR to a PC/Handheld'. Frustratingly, when one edits this item there is a drop-down with PC in it but not Handheld, so it doesn't seem to offer Palm>Palm.

I cannot swear, but from a past experience with my m515, there were several programs that interfered with beaming. If memory serves me (and that is a problem at my age) the main problems were related to overclocking programs and the portable keyboard. With the new speed of the T's, overclocking is not usually a factor now. I think the problem with the keyboard S/W has been corrected, You might look at some of the programs you have that require activation and deactivate them. Other than that I have no other ideas.
