beach fishing from shore during the winter.?

im on the east cost, so the ocean water is probably about 33 degrees. and since i will have nothing to do for a few days, and since i live right on the water, i decided maybe i would try and cast a line out like i did all summer. so from shore you think i could possibly get any fish? normally the area is full of snapper, sea robin, striper, flounder, and other fish like that found on the northeastern coast. so any idea what i could possibly catch? and if so, what bait, lure, or technique do you suggest? i probably wont catch anythign anyway but its worth a shot.
