BBC's Film 2010

Saw ten minutes off it, it was possibly the most painful TV experience I've endured in a long long time. The presenter (whatever the f*** her name is, and I really don't care) was desperately ill-chosen for the job, JR was even better than her (I thought JR was pretty bad too) This is bad on a level I thought I'd never see in this show! And that t**t from 'Empire' magazine, A***hole. I don't know who they're aiming this show at, but it certainly ain't the intelligent movie goers among us, or even those with two brain cells to rub together. Nope, a solid example of the depths the BBC are plunging to, to pander to the...... Oh I don't know who... the idiots I guess. Shame, we now have no decent movie going show to watch, well we haven't really since BN left, but now it's a total no go area for me at least.

You didn't like it then? :p
I meant to watch it, wasn't a fan of JRs version, so curious to see what it's like, I really like Claudia :o, so I probably won't find her as annoying as many do. Must watch out for the repeat, see what I think? I can't see it being highbrow though, you get that already on the Culture show with Mark Kermondes film reviews , which I like as I he covers more independent films, and I love his fantasty schedule at Oscar time, v funny.

Claudia Winkleman is one of those presenters who is rolled out for the strictly weekly shows & other stuff. I don't find her that good & always looks so frumpy. I didn't see Film whatsit but always though Barry Norman was far better I can't stand Wossy but he always came across as someone who had an interest & knowlege of the film world.

Not really an intelligent argument presented by you is it? Full of expletives, no real specific reason for your dislike of the show other than you don't like the presenters and a lazy dig at the BBC. I'm not sure you are the "Intelligent movie goer" to be honest.

Don't you think you ought to give the programme a few episodes before you develop an opinion? Who do you think would be a better presenter and why?

I personally thought it was OK, some of the live stuff was a bit edgy but I like the fact that it's attempting to shake up the tired "piece to camera" read from an autocue style of programming. I shall continue to watch with interest.

If you miss the repeat try and watch it on the BBCi Player. I ususllay download stuff just in case I miss the repeat. If I see it then I can delete it, if not it's on my comp for about 30 days or so.

I like Claudia as a presenter, but she does seem to split opinion. I haven't seen last night's programme yet but am glad that they are trying something different and not haveing the tired "to camera" piece as widger correctly points out. It is an very tired format that has been going at least 30 years.
It will be interesting to see what other changes they have made to liven the show up.

Claudia may not be as knowlegeable as Ross or Kermode but IMO that isn't a bad thing. An expert or knowlegeable person on any subject can make boring listening too and viewing as you don't feel any connection with them.
In the case of films, the vast majority of people require a limited amount of information.

I like the idea of 2 presenters who can challenge each others' opinions , better than just one reviewer reading his dry autocue'd little speech .

I think that's a bit unfair and presumptuous.

I found the programme a bit light for my tastes and lacking in substance, but I'm willing to keep on watching and give it time. Taking over something with a long history is going to be hard, so maybe give her time to settle in. Still, I did have moments where I was really wanting Barry Norman or Ross to come back.

I'd have rather have seen someone like Kermode in the chair. Even if he can be annoying at times and full of himself, he's quite a serious reviewer and knowledgeable about the subject. Still, we have Claudia, and even though I wasn't too impressed last night, I didn't think she was dire and am willing to give her time to settle in. Change can be unsettling. ;)

The fact Claudia is a woman is irrelevant to me. My opinion would be the same if it were presented by a man.
The series went from "must see" to "if there's nothing else on" over the last few years. Not because or Ross, more that it was a stale format. I'm still not convinced it neeRAB to be made anymore.

I thought it was rubbish for the most part, Claudia was okay and i liked the way that there were two reviewers to bounce opinions off, but everything else was just atrocious cringeworthy filler. I didn't mind the Empire guy (probably because i read it), but the idiotic "i don't like Pixar" woman (she has a grudge against an animation studio? she lost just about the entire country with that stupid remark) and the work experience kid were terrible. Don't even get me started on the Moon feature...

I'll tune in next week, but if its no better i'll be deleting the series link.
