BBC4 - Getting On - new series... NOW

thats how the protocol goes now...paracetamol...co-codamol....then tramadol...then oramorph...then morphine sulphate...drs cant go straight in with the old morphine in case the patient dies & the family sue

(in any case turns out the lady was on tramadol anyway)

Not laugh out loud tonite...but a good intro if u missed the first series..some classic lines...'ugh...she smells worse when she moves'...lol

Oh...& the pine xmas tree car freshener in the shoe! :D

Really excellent. Effortlessly moves between funny and sad, while still feeling very naturalistic and not dumbing down what is a very dark subject matter.

I think programmes like this are one of the reasons the BBC is still important. I could be wrong, but I really couldn't see this being commissioned by a commercial channel.

From my experience of caring for the elderly in nursing homes and hospitals it could be a documentary. Everything has to be done by the book and you have to leave your compassion at the door when you enter.

Absolutely loved last years first series and was really looking forward to the new, longer second series.

On last nights showing it's still got most of it's bite although I was a bit distracted with the constantly moving camera shots. I don't recall this so much in the first series.

Not withstanding, it was an excellent episode and there were numerous little gags you really have to watch for such as the Xmas tree air freshener.

The three main roles are played to perfection. I particularly like Vicki Pepperdine and her reactions when something goes not to plan are classic. Never been a huge fan of Jo Brand but this format suits her perfectly.

Looking forward to next weeks episode already!

"Hi! I've got a smelly person on a trolley for you!"

Loved the first series of this and I am so glad that another series has been commissioned.

I introduced my teenage daughter to this when the first series was repeated a little while back. She says she wants to be a doctor so I wanted her to see something a bit black and realistic to counteract any romantic notions she might have formed.
