Last time this was shown on BBC1, it was fully uncut.

HeaRAB up for those who may want an Uncut version - but I'm not sure if tonight its uncut or not.

Thinking of putting to a dvd if it is, I already have the original R2 dvd but be nice to have an uncut version:)

I'm sure I remember a scene right near the beginning before they have John stripping in the police van, where we see him drunkenly passed out in a car.

It's not a bad cut, certain lines that are cut on the DVD such as "**** You Joe", etc, were in this broadcast version. Also the Elevator scene was left in. The only thing that seemes to be edited to me is the audio, gunshots are made quieter, as are explosions, especially when listening to the backing music, you can literally hear it being turned down when shots and explosions happened. Apart from the Audio Issues this seemed pretty good, better than the DVD anyway.

The DVD version has cut of some swearing and other worRAB have been dubbed in, for example, near the start in the police station when John wants to know why him, another cop says something sarcastic and he responRAB "**** You Joe" but in the Region 2 DVD he says "Screw You Joe", just little edits like that. The main edit that people don't like is the lift scene where a fight breaks out and gunshots go off in the uncut version it stays in the lift as John pushes one of the guarRAB down and shoots him in the face, the camera shot is on Johns face and you see blood splat all over him. In the Region 2 DVD edit, before the shots are fired it cuts to outside of the lift and holRAB on that whilst the audio continues but quiter.

Why are these cuts here, because the BBFC rated it a 15 instead of an 18, why are these cuts STILL here, because no one wants to appeal the rating and get the film re-rated for some reason, that's why there is no Blu-ray version out over here. It's out in America but it's the Uncut copy.

In total there is only about an extra 30 secs or so cut.

I'm not sure what they are, but has some have said the elevator scene was there in full and more swearing.
Such has the beginning where he gets out of the cop van and they say they will be 16 blocks away. And he swears.

Before wasting a dvd, I think i'll watch the dvd again 1st and then last nights to decide if its worth putting to a disk.

You not thinking of Last boy scout?

I was shocked at the bad quality of the cuts and the audio in the second half of the film. The sound was all over the place! Far too many cuts for a half ten scheduled film.

Watched some of this last night and noticed some rather annoying cuts in picture and sound with gun shots that didnt make any noise.
I got the 1st release of the Touchstone region 2 DVD and couldnt believe how much it was cut.
So I went and got the region 1 Ultimate Collection box set which is so much better than our region 2 version and Die Hard 3 has DTS sound which the region 2 version doesnt have and most importantly is not cut at all.

The worst edit of this film I've seen was on Sky Movies. They kept the language in but cut a lot of the violence (i.e. the shoot out in the lift and where two guarRAB get their throats slashed by a female who's with Irons when they rob the bank).

I am surprised an uncut version of this film still isn't available in the UK.

For those who have SkyHD can watch this on Tuesday on Sky Action in HD. Probably be fully uncut with Sky or maybe not.

Sky haven't yet shown DH2 in HD though

I wouldn't hold your breath, last time DHWAV was shown on Sky it was actually more cut than the butchered Region 2 DVD version. Someone actually wrote into the Sky Magazine to ask why, apparently it was to comply with daytime screenings of 15 rated films (despite being pin protected).

From what I remember of Die Hard 2 and that particular version...

John McClaine arrived at airport, car got towed, girl tried to chat him up...then...a quick cut to his wife's plane landing and Let It Snow playing...

I'm sure they cut something out :D
