MEGS, unless something has changed in the last year that I don't know about (entirely possible) it's not SPRINT, it's AT&T. $80.00 a month?? yikes. BF and I decided we'd just use the computer. He shares a trailer with another SNCOIC, and has his laptop, so they're going to split the cost of internet service so we can YAHOO...umm yahooooo!! lol.
When I contacted a 3Star on Hood, he told me that yes there are certain SNCO's that are using BB service over there, but it's on a secure network server and the GPS device inside them is disabled/hidden so as not to give away location of troops. (Personally I didn't know they had a GPS tracking feature, and isn't that kinda scary?) He also said that ANY soldier caught using a cell phone, satellite enabled phone, or PDA overseas, will be punished severely. And that has not changed since I was overseas, so I figured that would be the case in the long run anyway. As the Army says, if you think it's wrong, just don't do it! (they should say that more often).
Anyway, Good Luck and best wishes!
