BB data plan - does it include SMS Text messages?

Hello

I was just wanting to check if the BB data plans include SMS text messages in the T Mobile plans.

I have the Family 3000 plan
with unlimited SMS text on some Razr phones for 20.00/mo
I have a bb with unlimted data plan for 20.00/mo

the Razr phones do not even use the text message feature at all. I use the bb and use SMS text all the time. I was just wondering why to pay an extra 20.00 for the text if I use it only on the bb. Does T Mobile the only one thta charges like this? I also have Cingular and it is not that way

Thanks

SMS messages are not included in the bb data plan that is offered through t-mo for $19.99. You either need to add a text msging plan to your bb or pay per message sent/received.

Ok there is a PLAN and an ADD-ON

There are PLANS that include the SMS unlimited with the PLAN
Blackberry Minutes & Mail/Ultra = $59.99/79.99
Blackberry Minutes & Mail Enterprise/Ultra = $69.99/89.99

Link to site.

If you have the ADD-ON then you will need to purchase a SMS/MMS message Bundle.
Blackberry Unlimited add-on = $19.99
This is added on to your current voice plan i.e. MyFavs/Get More

SMS/MMS Bundles 400/1000/Unlimited = $4.99/9.99/14.99

Although if you do get one of those blackberry PLANS MMS is not included. You will still need to add a SMS/MMS bundle if you want to send MMS. I know, its dumb.

So I hope this helps.

In short BB add-on NO SMS/MMS, BB PLAN YES unlimited SMS only.

SMS should be included in the BB data plan but its not. The worst part is that you can not turn this feature off. I do not have SMS included in my plan and I constantly get unsolisited SMS messages. TMO charges me $0.10 per SMS. So every 3 months I have to call and complain, and every 3 months they remove the charges and give me 30 free SMS messages which expire after 90 days. It is a pain, but I refuse to get SMS service just because I feel like TMO is trying to force me to do so by charging me for a service that I do not want or need, while refusing (or claiming they can't) to simply disable the feature on phones that do not subscribe to it.

According to information I just received last week, the T-Mobile BlackBerry Internet Add-On plan does now include messaging at no additional charge. Please check with T-Mobile to make sure, but this is what I have been told.

There are three markets that have add ons for 19.99 with no web, but unlimeted sms/mms/and email. You can always do #msg# to see how many sms you have used, and how many you have remaining!

If you have the family plan and the family time unlimited messaging for 20.00/mo, that is to cover each line on the plan. If the other lines do not use the messaging at all, you can go online to your My T-Mobile account or call customer care at 1-800-937-8997 or 611 from your handset and request a messaging feature for your line only. Your choices are 400 sms/mms/im for 4.99/mo, 1000 for 9.99/mo and unlimited for 14.99/mo. The messages are not included in the blackberry unlimited internet/email feature because it is specific to the blackberry data which includes internet and email only. Although the blackberries are capable of sms, mms and IM, the features are to reduce costs otherwise the standard rates are .15 each sms, mms or IM, which can get costly hence the features for messaging.

My account is set up the same way bigredqueen just reported. I pay about $20 for unlimited email/data and an additional $20 for family plan unlimited messaging.

There is a feature under "Options" then "Security Options" then "Firewall" that can block incoming SMS, MMS, PIN, and BB Internet Service. I don't know if each time one is blocked if it would count against you.

Would you still get charged by TMO if you block your BB from receiving text messages?

If that msg is transferred to your phone via the network you will get the charge. Again, youre charged for receiving the txt not reading or processing it. If it blocks it at the server.. no charge, if the server sends it to your phone number, regardless of what you do with it once it "arrives" its already too late..

And in the future T Mobile is considering an all exclusive feature. Look at the sidekick feature, unlim email, unlim internet AND unlim txt all for 20 a month.. Why should blackberries be any different right? Keep in mind the squeeky wheel gets the oil, ive been pushing for that change for a while now.

I was just in TMO yesterday changing some things... In CA the bb plan does not include SMS. I have unlimited SMS for an additional $9.99 a month

(I think it should include it, but we would be way too spoiled for $19.99!)
