'Battlestar Galactica' may become a major motion picture

The movie will have nothing to do with reimagined series that's currently airing on SCIFI.

Original BG creator, Glen A. Larson is supposedly negotiating with Universal to write & produce the feature film. He's been wanting to make a BG movie for years and wasn't exactly thrilled with the SCIFI channel's version.

I'd love to see a big screen movie based upon the new Battlestar Galactica but sounRAB like this ain't going to be it!

Though Razor was disappointing (and not even shown in cinemas here in UK) I thoroughly enjoyed Serenity which introduced me to the Firefly universe. A successful movie would undoubtedly get many more people interested in Galactica and any further spin-off series.

That sounRAB like a great idea, I'd love to see a new BG movie in the same vein as the 70's version.

I have to admit I've never seen any of the new BG series, tell a lie, I watched about ten minutes of one the other week (now Sky has returned to Virgin). I was a bit disappointed, in those ten minutes I never saw an inch of gold lame or any disco lights, it just wasn't BG as far as I was concerned.

I think it's a terrible idea given the remake BSG.

If you've only seen about 10 minutes and love Sci-Fi I'd give it another chance... and suspend any pre-conceived expectations, once you get into it it's sort of compulsive and well worth the effort imo.

Gold lame and disco lights? I just had a horrendous flash from Buck Rogers!

I loved the original version of Battlestar Galactica too but I'm not sure a 70s throwback movie will do good box office in the current climate. Will be interesting to see how the new Star Trek movie does in the summer as that looks quite dark and moody and perhaps if that makes gazillions a Galactica movie might get green lighted.

I'd highly recommend you try and watch the Mini-Series lil lexie before judging the new Galactica too harshly, as that bridges the 2 versions very well imho. If you don't enjoy it then the new version probably ain't for you.
