Battery Issue

I recently changed from a Nokia 6010 to a V180, which I bought new on ebay. The phone seems to work great, and I've been loading phone numbers in it. Anyway, today I noticed it was completely dead, so I plugged it into the recharger. When it read "charge complete", I unplugged it. Two minutes later, I noticed the phone was dead again.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled the battery and am recharging it again. It seems that if it worked for days when I first charged it after getting it, it can't be that the ebay seller gave me a bad battery.

It only charged for a few minutes the second time and again reads "charge complete". But as soon as I unplug the wall recharger, the phone goes dead again. I haven't hacked the phone in any way (god knows I don't know how...). What do I need to do to get this working again? The phone is about five days old.

It could be a bum battery, loose charger connection or a bad charging IC (inside the phone). If you know anyone with a similar phone you could try charging your battery in their phone or try their battery in your phone.

If another battery drains rapidly in your phone, you have a phone problem (pulling way too much current). If it works ok in your phone, you may have a bad battery.

You may also want to try charging with another charger just to verify it isn't the issue.

Also, once the phone indicates charge complete, leave the charger hooked up overnight. It will keep charging the battery at a slow rate. Over 10 or more hours, this will give you a good 75% charge.

Thanks for your thoughts. I called Motorola India yesterday and they are shipping me a new battery, so we'll see if that helps. I kinda doubt it's a bad charger, since the first time I recharged it took a number of hours, but the second time it only took a few minutes. Given that I hadn't been able to use the phone between the first and second charges, that made sense.

I have an email into the ebay seller, but Motorola seems like they will swap whatever needs swapping under their one year warrantee, despite me buying from ebay. We'll see.

I'm glad I didn't sell the 6010 yet...
