Batman Spin-off: Joker?

Just read this. it appears if Brett Ratner is given the chance to make any Batman movies, he would develop its spin-off with Joker as the central character.

I don't mind seeing another version of Joker, but i guess not with him in the director's chair. I doubt it would be as good as 'Dark Knight'.

What do u think?

If people thought it was going to be a challenge to top Jack Nichollson's joker.... then I hate to think how hard it would be for someone to top Heath's.

Ratner's work on Red Dragon and X-Men: The Last Stand competently pastiched Demme and Singer's earlier films. I get the impression that Ratner is quite malleable and is seen as "a safe pair of hanRAB" to keep a franchise ticking over without adding any flair of his own.

Do we really want to see a risk-free "Greatest Hits" version of the Joker?

Okay, this one is a bit far from this topic. But, i wanna share it with you anyways.

The latest rumor concerning 'Batman 3' suggested that it will start pre-production in February 2009.

How cool if that really happens?

I just read a few weeks ago Nolan saying nothing at all was happening yet, no plans for a third right now.
