Batman Begins

I was slightly dissapointed with the movie to be honest. I did go into it with a sceptical view and wasn't expecting it to be as good as Batman (89). I enjoyed the film but felt the first hour not only dragged slightly, but it seemed a little forced on times. Doesn't anyone else feel that Batman/Bruce Wayne is a mysterious character? A Dark Knight? - I mean showing us every little thing he did since his parents died seemed to draw away from the mystery completely and made the story slightly tedious and boring.
I much preferred the approach Tim Burton took with Batman (89), showing brief flashbacks of Bruce Wayne's past rather than dragging us through every minute of his life. It gave him more of an edge. Certain things were left to the imagination instead of having one man's vision rammed down our throats.
I still enjoyed the film (more so once it got going!) but due to the slow pacing of the first hour, can't imagine wanting to watch the film again - let alone go out and buy it, which I feel is a real shame because i've always been a fan of Batman.

Yep, he's not Gordon is not the Commisoner at the start of batman's career, he's a Lieutenant.

I agree it was a bit rushed in places... Be interesting to see what deleted scenes their were, or if they do a directors cut. I suspect some of Scarecrow's stuff was cut to keep the focus on Bats when triming the film down.

Also just got back from seeing it. Absolutly amazing movie, best batman film so far! Better than Batman and Batman returns, and i loved those (batman forvever and batman&robin never exist)

This could also be one of the best movies of 2005.

Who the hell are the people insulting this film, did we watch the same movie? Maybe you were disappointed that it featured actual characterisation rather than just silly stunts?

In my opinion, this is the best film of 2005 so far and easily the best Batman yet. Bale IS Batman, go and see it!

It looks like everybody has got there wish as Katie Holmes wont be returning for the sequel!
It does seem a bit strange as the rumoured plot for the sequel does involve her character but I am sure they will find a way around that problem!

Ra's Al ghul should return for the sequel using the Lazurus Pit idea which allows his body to be placed in a pit of water and then he comes back to life. I know he was in that train crash but he can easily survive by jumping through the window of the train.

I'm sure you was aware that the film was called 'Batman Begins' when you went to see it, and not just 'Batman'. The film is meant to be all about how he became Batman.

I saw it the other day and to be far less intellectual than everybody else....it rocked!!! On the Harvey Dent thread he's already been two different people, Billy Dee Williams in Batman and Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever. How confusing would another one be?!?!

totally excellent film,i liked the orgin backstory as the other films have only hinted at it this showed you it,a little better than the keaton films and made we want to forget joel schumachers go at making these films

Yep batmobile looks crap dammit they need to bring hack the old one with like the wings or something sticking out the back with the fire coming our or the one from batman and robin movie. Apart from that looks wicked gona go watch it in 2-3weeks. Been waiting for this for like 2yrs and its finally upon us. With the new superman returns movie out next yr and spiderman 3 the year after that seems superheros are taking over lol. I heard if Batman and Superman do well in the cinema then they will most likely make a superman vs batman movie which everyone has been waiting for 4 along time :D

Batman Begins writer David Goyer has a meeting to discuss the expected sequel to Batman Begins. When asked about the sequel he said simply: "We had a meeting. That's all I can say." So he is not giving much away at all about the sequel to Batman Begins!

There's no if about it, theyre both gonna be huge.

I really don't see a Vs film happening though, as that would mean that one of them would have to be a bad guy (probably, Bats) - plus supes would kick his arse :D.

Ooops, I meant to ask...does anyone know the dates and places where the batmobile is gonna be. I went to see the original one at Star City the other day and it was cancelled, my 4yr old daughter was really upset.

Personally, i found this film a lot more appropriate for the 'Dark Knight' demeanour. I thought the way it was filmed, and particularly thought the shooting of Bruces parentswas much more dark and shocking in this version than in the Burton films. For me, there never was a whole lot of mystery about a lot of the key points of Bruces life that lead up to him becoming batman for me (falling into the cave, the bats, parents death, the fact he went travelling etc...), as they have all been shown in comic or film form already. I though Nolan put it all together very neatly, and without screwing with the comic book history too, unlike Burtons.

It's funny, but with the way Nolan shot it, it didn't really feel like someone 'vision' of Batman to me, where as Burtons always did. Don't get me wrong, I like the Burton films, but I just think Nolan totally nailed it with Batman Begins.

Nice to hear a different point of view on the film though. :)
