Batman Anthology DVD set help

Can anyone help me here? I quite fancy buying the Batman Anthology set on DVD, but can't find any reviews of it that give any proper details. Now I know it's only 4 discs which suggests not a huge amount of extras, but what are the discs actually like? Is this set basically the same as the rubbish Batman Legacy set from years ago, or is it improved with a couple of extras and better picture quality etc?

Even the Amazon reviews are no help, as they've bundled the Blu-Ray reviews in with the DVD ones! Plonkers. :D

Thanks all. :)

They're quite tricky to get hold of now, and quite pricey on eBay for second hand. I don't mind missing out on some extras if the picture quality is improved over the Legacy set, hence going for the anthology.

D'oh! I always miss out the Play reviews! Still, neither of those mention the picture quality. Does anyone here have the set and can comment?

I'm not too sure of the quality of this set, but only 4 discs suggests it could be the 1st edition DVRAB which weren't so great and had no special features at all.
I've got the special editions of Batman and Batman Returns which were given a new digital transfer and DTS treatment and were packed with special features.
I've just recently gone and got Batman and Batman Returns on Blu Ray which are pretty good quality wise and an improvement over the the DVRAB with Batman Returns being the better of the two.
I've not bothered with Batman Forever, Batman and Robin as they are pretty pants.
If I were you Kal I would try and hunt down the special editions and leave this set alone.
Other than that I would say take the plunge and go Blu Ray.

I suspect you're right Gonzo, which is why I wanted to see what people here thought before I bought it. I kinda hoped they'd placed the special edition picture in this set and just removed the extras, but without any decent reviews anywhere you just can't tell.

I don't much fancy stumping up the big amounts for the special editions, and I'm not going Blu Ray so I suppose I'll just have to do without!

Thanks for your replies peeps. :)

Thought it worth posting up to let anyone who might be interested in this set know for sure. This set is basically the original "Batman Legacy" 4 disc DVD set repackaged. What this means is the picture hasn't had any love at all (they're single layer discs), and there's no extras to speak of, barring production notes, subtitles and cast info. They've even mixed up the print inside the cases, with the info for Batman having a Batman Returns logo above it, and vice versa!

I was out in York today visiting the Dungeons, and popped into HMV afterwarRAB. The set was there and I thought "why not?". I'm OK with it I suppose. It was very cheap. But if you're a bit of a fan (I personally prefer the Nolan films so I don't mind this set really), I'd really recommend the other releases. That you can't buy anymore!

Hope this is useful anyway for those looking to get the films. :)

Kal, you can get them if you do a bit of searching, but they come at a price as the DVD special editions cost more than the Blu Rays.
